In the spring of 1995, during works for the rehabilitation of a wall that closed the grotto of the Old Cemetery in the Sicilian village of Alia, the skeletal remains of the victims of the cholera outbreak of 1837 that had been rapidly interred here were brought to light. From that moment on, the Alia project was developed without interruption, analysing the biological evolution of the local population by exploiting study methods characteristic of different anthropological disciplines, such as skeletal biology, population genetics and biodemography. Se presenta aquí una nueva tésera de hospitalidad celtibérica de bronce en forma de lobo en perspectiva cenital. No se sabe con seguridad el lugar de hallazgo de la pieza, pero parece proceder de la provincia de Burgos, lo que parece confirmar su análisis estilístico. The theoretical and methodological approaches of Cultural and Social Anthropology have long since become indispensable for the study of classical antiquity, so much so that we can speak of a Historical Anthropology of the Ancient World. The Union of Comoros comprises three of the four islands of the Comorian archipelago, which is situated halfway between the East African coast and the northern tip of Madagascar. Official languages are French, Arabic, and Comorian, the latter of which is the everyday language of the people. Comorian is a Bantu language closely related to Swahili that can be subdivided into different dialects: Ngazija/Shingazija on Grande Comore, Ndzwani/Shindzwani on Anjouan, and Shimwali on Moheli.

Tajikistan, an independent Central Asian state since 1991, has Tajik, a variety of Persian, as its national language. Turkic-speaking groups, mainly Uzbeks, make up one fourth of the population. Eastern Iranian languages are still spoken in Tajikistan. Current efforts include the replacement of Russian by Tajik as the language of government and higher education as well as the reduction of Russian and Uzbek elements in Tajik.
