A Precise Measurement of the $\tau$ Polarisation at LEP-1

2000

The $\tau$ polarisation has been studied with the ${\rm e^+e^-}\to \tau^+\tau^-$ data collected by the DELPHI detector at LEP in 1993, 1994 and 1995 around the Z resonance firstly through the exclusive decay channels ${\rm e}\nu\bar{\nu}$ , $\mu\nu\bar{\nu}$ , $\pi\nu$ , $\rho\nu$ and ${\rm a}_1\nu$ and secondly with an inclusive hadronic analysis which benefits from a higher efficiency and a better systematic precision. The results have been combined with those previously published on 1990 to 1992 DELPHI data, to produce results which reflect the full LEP-1 statistics. The fit of the $\tau$ polarisation dependence on the production angle yielded the polarisation parameters ${\cal A}_{_{\sc…

Mechanisms in theC12(γ,pn)and(γ,pp)Reactions

1998

${}^{12}\mathrm{C}(\ensuremath{\gamma},pn)$ and $(\ensuremath{\gamma},pp)$ cross sections have been measured in kinematics which emphasize direct $2N$ knockout for ${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}120--400\mathrm{MeV}$ and ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{p}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}23\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}--152\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$. The cross sections for both reactions peak strongly in the $\ensuremath{\Delta}$-resonance region. Theoretical calculations that account for the medium dependence of the $\ensuremath{\Delta}$ propagator predict a similar photon energy dependence to the data and describe the …

Spinpolarisation langsamer Elektronen durch elastische Streuung an Edelgasatomstrahlen

1968

The angular dependence of spin polarisationP(θ) of electrons elastically scattered by noble gas atomic beams is measured in a double-scattering experiment for electron energies between 40 and 150 eV and over an angular range fromθ=30‡ toθ=150‡. Maximum degree of polarisation measured isP=+ 39.5%±2.6% (Xe; 150eV;θ=60‡). The results are compared with the theoretical values ofCoulthard, which agree approximately with the measurements only for Xenon. For all lower atomic numbers the experimental values are higher than the theoretical ones.

Winkelverteilungen elastisch an Edelgas-Atomstrahlen gestreuter Elektronen; Spinpolarisation eines an Argon gestreuten 40 eV-Elektronenstrahls

1967

The angular distribution of electrons scattered elastically by rare-gas atomic beams (He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe) has been investigated over the angular range from 20° to 155° and with electron energies between 5 eV and 1000 eV. The results are compared with theory. Only for energies above 300 eV the agreement is good. The angular dependence of polarization P(Θ) of electrons, elastically scattered by a beam of argon atoms, is measured in a double scattering experiment for an electron energy of 40 eV. Maximum degree of polarization measured isP=12.5% ± 2.5%.

Elektronenpolarisation im Energiebereich unterhalb 50 eV durch Streuung an freien Hg-Atomen

1966

The angular dependence of spin polarizationP(Θ) of electrons elastically scattered by a beam of mercury atoms is measured in a double scattering experiment for electron energies of 45±1 eV; 23±1 eV; 7±1 eV; and 3,5±1 eV. Maximum degree of polarization obtained isP(100°)=0,39±0,07; electron energy 7±1 eV; electron current 10−12–10−11 A.

Systematic Comparison of Jet Energy-Loss Schemes in a realistic hydrodynamic medium

2009

We perform a systematic comparison of three different jet energy-loss approaches. These include the Armesto-Salgado-Wiedemann scheme based on the approach of Baier-Dokshitzer-Mueller-Peigne-Schiff and Zakharov (BDMPS-Z/ASW), the Higher Twist approach (HT) and a scheme based on the approach of Arnold-Moore-Yaffe (AMY). In this comparison, an identical medium evolution will be utilized for all three approaches: not only does this entail the use of the same realistic three-dimensional relativistic fluid dynamics (RFD) simulation, but also includes the use of identical initial parton-distribution functions and final fragmentation functions. We are, thus, in a unique position, not only to isolat…
