Transparency of peer review: a semi-structured interview study with chief editors from social sciences and humanities

Background Open peer review practices are increasing in medicine and life sciences, but in social sciences and humanities (SSH) they are still rare. We aimed to map out how editors of respected SSH journals perceive open peer review, how they balance policy, ethics, and pragmatism in the review processes they oversee, and how they view their own power in the process. Husserl’s concept of “open intersubjectivity” expresses the peculiarity that the environment appears as being there for “anyone”. The structurally implicated, potential co-perceivers have been rendered anonymous, unspecified, which is another way of saying that the horizontally implicated “anyone” refers to no one in particular, but to “any alter egos whatever”. My article focuses on this tacit structural referencing to potential others and challenges the claim of anonymity. Despite the obvious positive connotations, the world of lifestyle blogging also has a darker side to it. Tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää, tarjoaako viimeisen vuosikymmenen aika- na suosioon noussut kryptovaluutta Bitcoin käyttäjilleen anonymiteettiä. Kryptovaluuttojen anonymiteetin tarkasteluun eivät perinteiseen tiedonsiirtoon liitetyt anonymiteetin teoreemat täysin sovellu ja tästä johtuen on muodostettu kryptovaluuttoja koskeva uusi anonymiteetin määritelmä. Tämän uuden määritelmän mukaisesti anonymiteettia tarkastellessa on selvää, että Bitcoin ei oletusarvoisesti tarjoa käyttäjilleen anonymiteettia.
