Argumentaatioteoria tutkii väittelyprosessia, joka nähdään rationaalisena toimintana, ja jossa esitetään väitteitä sekä perustellaan niitä. Klassisen logiikan piirissä on traditio, jossa logiikan teoriaa käytetään argumentaatiossa esiintyvien päättelyjen mallintamiseen. Tässä työssä logiikan lähestymistapaa tarkastellaan sen argumenttien arviointikyvyn valossa, kun pätevyydellä tarkoitetaan loogista pätevyyttä. Havaitaan, että looginen pätevyys ei ole riittävä kriteeri, sillä relevanssi muodostuu ongelmaksi. Abstract. Remotely sensing vegetation condition and health hazards requires modeling the connection of plants’ biophysical and biochemical parameters to their spectral response. Even though many models exist already, the field suffers from lack of access to program code. In this study, we will assess the feasibility of open-source 3D-modeling and rendering software Blender in simulating hyperspectral reflectance and transmittance of leaf tissue to serve as a base for a more advanced large-scale simulator. “Optime educatus” : Book historical perspectives on Prince Sigismund’s education in sixteenth-century Sweden

The article analyses some aspects of writing in Prince Sigismund Vasa’s (1566-1632) education in the latter half of sixteenth-century Sweden. The focus is on the rare, hand-written material of his youth, which reflects the educational ideals, practices and strategies in the inter-confessional Jagiellon–Vasa family and at their court(s) in the context of a complex political situation. One example is young Sigismund’s salutation to the Pope included in her mother’s, Catherine Jagiellon’s (1526-1583), letter. In addition, two letters held at the Riksarkivet (Swedish National Archives), Stockholm, categorized as “royal autographs” are explored and transcribed for the first time. peerReviewed
Structure-based evaluation of the resonance interactions and effectiveness of the charge transfer in nitroamines

Structural data for five nitroamines of general formula Me₂N–G–NO₂ show effectiveness of the ground-state charge transfer to be most and least efficient in N,N-dimethylnitramine and in 4-N,N-dimethylamino-β-nitrostyrene, respectively. Electron-donor power of the amino nitrogen atom in the latter compound is less than that in 4-nitro-β-N,N-dimethylaminostyrene (these two compounds are isomers). Natural population analysis shows that the charge transfer from the amino to the nitro oxygen atoms is most effective in N,N-dimethylnitramine, Me₂N–NO₂. Tiivistelmä – Abstract Maisterintutkielmani aiheena on nepalilainen naamiotanssiryhmä, dyo khala. Esittelen ryhmän jäsenet ja tehtävät sekä pohdin minkälaiset ovat dyo khalan tulevaisuuden näkymät. Tutkimuskysymyksinäni minulla ovat ”minkälainen on dyo khalan rakenne ja mitä sen ydintoimintaan kuuluu” sekä ”miten dyo khalan jäsenet kokevat ryhmän jatkuvuuden suhteessa nykyajan haasteisiin.” Naamiotanssiryhmiä on tutkittu vähän, eikä kunnollista selvitystä ryhmän rakenteesta ole tehty. Hyperspectral imaging and distance data have previously been used in aerial, forestry, agricultural, and medical imaging applications. Extracting meaningful information from a combination of different imaging modalities is difficult, as the image sensor fusion requires knowing the optical properties of the sensors, selecting the right optics and finding the sensors’ mutual reference frame through calibration.
