Shelf life-based inventory management policy for RF monitored warehouse

2018

Post-harvest losses of perishable products strongly depend on inefficiencies of the entire supply chain. In particular, these inefficiencies can be reduced by optimizing the warehouse management, taking into account the remaining shelf life of the product, and matching it to the requirements of the subsequent part of the handling chain. The replacement of First In First Out picking rule with Last Shelf Life First Out policy has been proved to improve the overall performance of the supply chain. The practicability of such approach is related to the possibility of monitoring the deterioration rate of the products and of predicting the residual shelf-life, that is mainly influenced by harvesti…

The organization of the defense support system: an economic geography perspective

2017

In the context of restricted budgetary resources and the growing cost of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities, a major issue for modern armed forces is to sustain defense platforms. A possible method consists of realizing economies of scale through the concentration of maintenance activities, which involves the spatial reorganization of existing industrial sites dedicated to MRO. This article provides a formalized framework to discuss the optimal organization for the MRO of defense platforms in space. The public planner organizes the maintenance of defense platforms with only two possible spatial configurations. In the dispersed configuration, two industrial production units i…

A Novel Intelligent Technique for Product Acceptance Process Optimization on the Basis of Misclassification Probability in the Case of Log-Location-S…

2019

In this paper, to determine the optimal parameters of the product acceptance process under parametric uncertainty of underlying models, a new intelligent technique for optimization of product acceptance process on the basis of misclassification probability is proposed. It allows one to take into account all possible situations that may occur when it is necessary to optimize the product acceptance process. The technique is based on the pivotal quantity averaging approach (PQAA) which allows one to eliminate the unknown parameters from the problem and to use available statistical information as completely as possible. It is conceptually simple and easy to use. One of the most important featur…

Data Sources Handling for Emergency Management: Supporting Information Availability and Accessibility for Emergency Responders

2017

Information is an essential component for better emergency response. Although a lot of information being available at various places during any kind of emergency, many emergency responders (ERs) use only a limited amount of the available information. The reason for this is that the available information heterogeneously distributed, in different formats, and ERs are unable to get access to the relevant information. Moreover, without having access to the needed information, many emergency responders are not able to obtain a sufficient understanding of the emergency situation. Consequently, a lot of time is being used to search for the needed information and poor decisions may be made. Therefo…

Receiving Continuous Antibiotic Prophylaxis

2020

Abstract Continuous antibiotic prophylaxis represents an initial management strategy for decreasing the risk of urinary tract infections in children with vesicoureteral reflux. A significant number of cases resolve spontaneously in time, reason for which continuous antibiotic prophylaxis is not required in every patient with this disorder. It is mandatory to select the patients who need continuous antibiotic prophylaxis according to their risk group. We do not have a lot of scientific evidences about what is better or not for these patients, but the main objective for the case management is to maintain the renal function, by minimizing the risk of pyelonephritis, renal scars and its consequ…

Analysis of Activity States of Local Neuronal Microcircuits in Mouse Brain

2018

Time series of neuronal activity corresponding to different activity states in mouse brain are analyzed in the time domain and the time-frequency domain. The signals are associated with either a slow wave brain state or a persistent brain state. For both states, characteristic spectral features are identified and a simple detector is proposed that is able to identify the brain state with low latency and high accuracy. In practice, being able to monitor the brain state online and in real time is crucial for improved in vivoexperiments and, ultimately, for a causal understanding of brain dynamics.

QSPR Prediction of Retention Times of Methylxanthines and Cotinine by Bioplastic Evolution

2018

High-performance liquid-chromatographic retention times of methylxanthines and cotinine in human plasma and urine are modelled by structure–property relationships. Bioplastic evolution is an evolutionary perspective conjugating the effect of acquired characters, and relations that emerge among the principles of evolutionary indeterminacy, morphological determination and natural selection. It is applied to design co-ordination index, which is used to characterize retentions of methylxanthines, etc. Parameters used to calculate co-ordination index are formation enthalpy, molecular weight and surface area. Morphological and co-ordination indices provide strong correlations. Effect of different…
