Digital Storytelling Project as a Way to Engage Students in Twenty-First Century Skills Learning
2020
[EN] This paper is focused on the implications of a collaborative digital storytelling project on student engagement in the higher education context. The empirical study is conducted with an interdisciplinary group of bachelor students in a Nordic University (N = 22) and a university in Southern Europe (N = 21), and the data are collected through an online student survey. The results demonstrate that the digital storytelling project supported students’ behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement. In general, the students had positive emotional experiences with the project. This assignment format was found less stressful than a frontal presentation in the classroom, allowing the students…
Deep Convolutional Neural Network Based Object Detection Inference Acceleration Using FPGA
2022
Object detection is one of the most challenging yet essential computer vision research areas. It means labeling and localizing all known objects of interest on an input image using tightly fit rectangular bounding boxes around the objects. Object detection, having passed through several evolutions and progressions, nowadays relies on the successes of image classification networks based on deep convolutional neural networks. However, as the depth and complication of convolutional neural networks increased, detection speed reduced, and accuracy increased. Unfortunately, most computer vision applications, such as real-time object tracking on an embedded system, requires lightweight, fast and a…
Understand and optimize mental strategies during motor learning
2022
Motor imagery-based motor learning, also known as mental practice, can improve motor performance. However, questions remain concerning the mechanisms involved in mental practice, at the neurophysiological and behavioral levels. In a first study, we show an increase of short-interval intracortical inhibition during motor imagery, supporting the hypothesis that motor imagery induces the generation of an inhibited motor command. In a second study, we show modulations in functional connectivity between the cerebellum and the primary motor cortex following a mental practice session, corroborating at the neurophysiological level the hypothesis of the involvement and updating of internal models af…
Jusqu'où peut-on comparer les apprentissages scolaires ?
2007
The pertinent review for the early knowledge learning in school and their links with quality matters is a complex issue, expressly in a comparative approach when crossing the variety on the range for economic development. But the increasingly frequent reference for a universal basic knowledge, in a connection with a claim concerning a global convergence, as a necessity in self determination for everyone to apply for a minimum level in literacy, raises the question whereby the comparative description of the factors of effectiveness of the school. In this note, the objective is only centred on the concerns for a comparison in measurement relating to results of a common school test led to pupi…

Apprentissage de modalités auxiliaires pour la localisation basée vision
2018
In this paper we present a new training with side modality framework to enhance image-based localization. In order to learn side modality information, we train a fully convo-lutional decoder network that transfers meaningful information from one modality to another. We validate our approach on a challenging urban dataset. Experiments show that our system is able to enhance a purely image-based system by properly learning appearance of a side modality. Compared to state-of-the-art methods, the proposed network is lighter and faster to train, while producing comparable results.
Technics Amélioration for geo-localization in wsn via smart computing and real time application
2022
New technologies exploiting digital information acquisition by radio frequency techniques are now commonly used in various practical fields. They are most often used to measure a variety of physical variables such as temperature, humidity, speed, etc. and are gathered under the name of Wireless Sensor Networks “WSN”. For this variant of applications, the accurate location of connected sensor nodes remains an important issue for researchers and industrial applications. Indeed, existing localization algorithms can be classified into two categories known as « range-based » and « range-free ». Range-based localization systems are characterized by major drawbacks. The first one is the cost of th…
Color and multispectral image processing for the detection of inflammatory lesions of the stomach
2019
The work presented in this manuscript is part of the ANR project EMMIE. This project aims to develop an innovative multimodal system for the detection of inflammatory lesions in the stomach. To this purpose, a prototype has been developed to be able to acquire NBI endoscopic images and multispectral images during human's antrum exploration. The prototype is made of a standard endoscope and multispectral images. The prototype can acquire two types of data: NBI images and spectra. These two modalities are processed independently. Common image processing features are used to recognize four kind of diseases: active gastritis, chronic gastritis, metaplasia and atrophy. In addition, visual based f…
Smart River : Towards Efficient Cooperative Autonomous Inland Navigation
2022
In recent years, inland waterway transport has witnessed increasing attention from France and many European countries. However, this mode of transport lacks flexibility, has an aging infrastructure, and the current ships are not adapted to an increase in transport capacity ensuring the safety of vessels and goods as well as reliable and constant delivery times. Therefore, inland transport must go through an organizational and technical renovation specific to its particular environment in order to hope to compete with land transport. In this thesis, we propose developing a smart river ecosystem that focuses on three principal axes: (i) automatic inland infrastructure, (ii) autonomous inland s…
Effect of host kairomones and oviposition experience on the arrestment behavior of an egg parasitoid
2006
SUMMARY Chemical residues left by walking adults of the southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula (L.) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) induce arrestment behavior in the egg parasitoid Trissolcus basalis (Wollaston)(Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) leading to prolonged periods of walking on contaminated areas and to systematic return to the stimulus after encountering the treatment borders. In this study, we quantified how the hierarchical value of residues from host adults and oviposition experience can influence the arrestment behavior of T. basalis females. Our results showed that:(1) female wasps perceived host residues at different hierarchical levels depending on the host gender, with a clear pre…
