Passerelle per i siti archeologici. Esigenze e requisiti per la fruizione
2011
There has been a growing interest regarding the conservation of cultural and archaeological heritage and a corresponding increase in the number of tourists displaying an interest in these areas. Consequently this has entailed more attentive intervention strategies aimed at the conservation, the appreciation, the enjoyment and the exploitation of our historical and artistic heritage. The subject of the footbridge is closely linked to museological, architectural and archaeological aspects. This paper outlines certain demands on the part of the visitor, the essentials that need to be specified in the project and the results that these particular artefacts, i.e. footbridges, need to provide in …
SPACE AND MATTER. A SOLID VOID FOR A WEAK MONUMENTALITY
2020
Following this essay one can say that the immaterial icon of the building perpetuated over the last three decades, characterized by a shiny and evanescent materiality, seems to reflect a deep tiredness today, featuring an increasingly rapid obsolescence of its image. As a result, there is a need for a major review of the interpretation process of the requests coming from the market and geared toward a new exegesis of the tectonic detail for a formal and material interpretation of the soundness of a financial system looking for vali-dation. This condition, while proposing a healthy come-back toward a conscious control of the tectonic dimension of the building, re-interprets, in its typologic…

The 1968 earthquake in western Sicily is a break point in the history of a territory rich and layered.
2. Stato dell’arte e riferime…
Virtues of Mentors and Mentees in the Finnish Model of Teachers’ Peer-group Mentoring
2020
This study investigated participants’ conceptions of the ideal mentor and mentee in the Finnish model of peer-group mentoring (PGM). Existing mentoring research emphasises dyadic practices, yet there is a lack of investigation of participants’ roles in group mentoring. The main concepts of this inquiry were dispositions (habitus) and virtues drawing on the theory of practice architectures and Aristotelian virtue philosophy. Methodologically, the study can be identified as philosophical-empirical inquiry that utilises a narrative and hermeneutical approach to analyse qualitative data from 30 respondents. As its central finding, the study identified a set of core characteristics that describe…
The Recurrent Characteristics of Historic Buildings as a Support to Improve their Energy Performances: The Case Study of Palermo
2017
Abstract The analysis of the recurrent characteristics of the local historic architecture is useful to develop large-scale energy analyses, regulations and financial strategies, but also to support technical guidelines for an energy improvement balanced with conservation. For this purpose, a multi-scale methodology ranging from envelope components to the urban dimension is necessary. In the research here exposed, this approach is investigated by focusing on the historic architecture of Palermo. For this heritage, the collection of thermal and hygrometric data for envelope components is combined with the examination of representative constructions, based on building stock categorization. Int…
