Rhabdomyosarcoma of the head and neck in pediatric patients: a systematic review.

2022

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a soft tissue malignant tumor of mesenchymal cell origin, which usually shows variable differentiation of muscle cells. It is the most common solid sarcoma in children. The most usual site of occurrence are the head and neck regions. RMS presents a variety of histologic features, and so differential diagnosis with other small round cell tumors is needed. Hence, it has been very useful to the field to undertake additional immunohistochemical studies to determine the diagnosis and, on occasions, to assign subtype tumors. A systematic review of three databases (Medline, Biological Science Collection and Health & Medical Collection) was carried out with the purpose of …

Per un museo diffuso di arte contemporanea: il quartiere Eur a Roma. Frammenti di storia e paesaggio tra preesistenze archeologiche, architettura, ar…

2015

Abstract Obiettivi. Risultati. L’intervento mira a tradurre i contributi scientifici sull’a…

Oral non-squamous malignant tumors: diagnosis and treatment

2007

Some 90% of oral cancers consist of squamous cell carcinomas that arise from the oral mucosa. The remaining 10% of malignancies consist of malignant melanomas, carcinomas of the intraoral salivary glands, sarcomas of the soft tissues and the bones, malignant odontogenic tumors, non-Hodgkin?s lymphomas and metastases from primary tumors located elsewhere in the body. These malignancies will be briefly reviewed and discussed. The emphasis is on diagnosis and management.

Dental implants rehabilitation in a patient with head and neck radiotherapy for osteosarcoma in the jaw. A clinical case report

2021

A 52-year-old female patient with a diagnostic of osteosarcoma in the mandible, in which it was necessary a reconstruction with a microvascularized osteomyocutaneous fibula bone. Coadjuvant chemotherapy was scheduled. Two years later, 4 osseointegrated implants (OII) were placed in the fibula a 2 OII in the right mandible, using a splint guided surgery. The final prosthodontic consisted in a metal ceramic restoration using CAD/ CAM technology. Key words:Oral rehabilitation, oral cancer, head and neck radiotherapy, oral oncology.

In human osteosarcoma 3AB-OS cancer stem cells let-7d seems to have the dual function of oncogene/tumor-suppressor miRNA

2015

Introduction: Osteosarcoma (OS), an aggressive tumor a!ecting adolescents, shows therapy resistance and recurrence which can depend on cancer stem cells (CSCs), the source for tissue renewal and hold malignant potential; thus, OS treatment requires their eradication. Here, using 3AB-OS CSCs previously obtained from the OS-MG63 cells, we focused on the role of let-7d in managing stemness properties of 3AB-OS CSCs. Methods: 3AB-OS CSCs were stably transfected with pCDomH-plasmid, containing mir-let7-d, or empty vector as a control. Cell proliferation and viability were evaluated by EdU and Trypan blue assays, respectively. Sarcosphere and colony assays and wound healing and transwell invasion…

WIN-induced vesiculation cooperates to the inhibition of osteosarcoma cell migration

2015

Introduction. Animal cells release vesicles that mediate the secretion of a variety of factors in the surrounding environment affecting neighboring cells. There is increasing evidence that secreted vesicles play an important role as vehicle of intercellular communication in different biological systems and are able to influence both physiological and pathological processes. Recently, we have reported that the synthetic cannabinoid WIN55,512 is able to induce osteosarcoma MG63 cell death and negatively affect cell migration. Here, we study the effects of WIN on the induction of vesicle secretion and their possible role in WIN-dependent reduction of osteosarcoma cell migratory ability. Method…

Osteosarcoma en la infancia y adolescencia: factores pronósticos e identificación de nuevas dianas terapéuticas

2017

Introduction Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumour in children and adolescents. Current management of high-grade osteosarcoma consists of administration of neoadjuvant/adjuvant chemotherapy and complete surgical removal of all tumour sites. The most important prognostic factors for long-term survival are: disease extension (localized/metastatic), primary tumour location (extremity/axial), histologic response to first-line induction chemotherapy and surgical removal of all detectable lesions. The addition of chemotherapy to surgery in the 1970s and 80s increased substantially long-term survival of osteosarcoma patients. However, no further improvement of survival has …
