The EXAFS data-analysis software package EDA consists of a suite of programs running under a Windows operating system environment that is designed to perform all steps of conventional EXAFS data analysis such as extraction of the XANES/EXAFS parts of the X-ray absorption coefficient, Fourier filtering and EXAFS fitting using the Gaussian and cumulant models. The estimation of the Feasible Parameter Set (FPS) for Hammerstein models in a worst-case setting is considered. A bounding procedure is determined both for polytopic and ellipsoidic uncertainties. It consists in the projection of the FPS of the extended parameter vector onto suitable subspaces and in the solution of convex optimization problems which provide Uncertainties Intervals of the model parameters. In many real applications, the data of production processes cannot be precisely measured. This is particularly worrying when assessing efficiency with frontier-type models, such as data envelopment analysis (DEA) models, since they are very sensitive to possible data errors. For this reason, the possibility of having available a methodology that allows the analyst to deal with imprecise data becomes an issue of great interest in these contexts. To that end, we develop some fuzzy versions of the classical DEA models (in particular, the BCC model) by using some ranking methods based on the comparison of α-cuts. Net multipliers, as introduced by Oosterhaven and Stelder (2002) accept outputs as entries instead of final demand. They are found by multiplying ordinary multipliers by the final demand ratio over the sector’s output. This pragmatic solution suffers from ratio instability over time. The alternative net multipliers proposed here are based on the interpretation of the Leontief inverse matrix for the effects generated at each round. The new solution is not sensitive to the size of impacts. Now net multiplier is equal to the corresponding ordinary multiplier minus one, and the ordering of multipliers is unchanged.

We examined the results of 1,835 magnetic field measurements in German residences conducted between November 1997 and September 1999. The measurements were part of an epidemiological study on the relationship between magnetic fields and childhood leukemia. We performed a fixed-location measurement of the magnetic field at 50 Hz and 16 2/3 Hz (frequency of the German railway system) over 24 h in the child's bedroom in the residence of each study participant. In addition, we conducted a second 24 h-measurement in the living room at 50 Hz, and spot measurements while walking through all rooms of the respective dwelling. Abstract Some well-known arithmetically Cohen–Macaulay configurations of linear varieties in P r as k-configurations, partial intersections and star configurations are generalized by introducing tower schemes. Tower schemes are reduced schemes that are a finite union of linear varieties whose support set is a suitable finite subset of Z + c called tower set. We prove that the tower schemes are arithmetically Cohen–Macaulay and we compute their Hilbert function in terms of their support.
