Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan lastensuojelun asiakkaana olevien monilapsisten perheiden ar-kea ja tuen tarpeita äidin näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on lisätä ymmärrystä lastensuojelun asiakkaana olevien monilapsisten perheiden arjesta. Tämän kautta voidaan saada tietoa siitä, kuinka perheitä voitaisiin tukea parhaalla mahdollisella tavalla. Anaesthesia of animals may be useful for different purposes, particularly for veterinary reasons or in experimental research, for manipulation or treatment of immobilized but alive animals. Its use in crustaceans is not uncommon, but it has never been described for Ostracoda. We provide brief and preliminary guidelines on the use of the tricaine mesylate (MS-222) on the widespread freshwater ostracod Eucypris virens and we show that this compound is an effective anaesthetic used as a bath treatment at minimum concentrations of 500 mg L-1. In Differentiated Services networks, packets may receive a different treatment according to their Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) label. As a consequence, packet marking schemes can be devised to differentiate packets belonging to a same TCP flow, with the goal of improving the experienced performance. This paper presents an extensive performance evaluation of a new adaptive packet marking scheme, which relies on three different service classes, provided by the DiffServ network. Database watermarking techniques allow for hiding information in a database, like a copyright mark. While watermarking methods are numerous in the multimedia setting, databases present various specificities. This work addresses some of them: how to watermark a numerical database while preserving the result of interesting aggregate queries, how to watermark a structured stream like a typed XML stream or a symbolic music score, how to watermark geographical data sets.

Jo vuosikymmenen ajan on Suomessa keskusteltu ”digitaalisesta historiantutkimuksesta” ja sen rajauksesta, joka on useimmiten tiivistetty laskennallisuuteen. Huomattavasti vähemmän on mietitty digitaalisuuden merkitystä muuhun historiantutkimukseen. Tässä katsauksessa keskitytään perusasioihin historiantutkijoiden tietokantahauissa. Esimerkein osoitetaan, että on helppoa muodostaa virheellinen kuva tietokannan sisällöstä. Käy myös ilmi, ettei totuuden selvittäminen ole aina edes mahdollista. Lopuksi annetaan pari käytännön ohjetta käyttäjille ja toiveita hakuliittymien kehittäjille.
