Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) is a well-known geophysical method applied to geological, hydrogeological and geoenvironmental research. To date, 2D ERT is still used much more than 3D ERT, thanks to its greater immediacy, survey speed and lower complexity in processing and inversion. However, the assumption of two-dimensionality of the underground structures can mean that the effects of 3D structures on the 2D ERT can sometimes lead to gross errors in interpretation. Validation of quantification of pulmonary blood flow (PBF) with dynamic, contrast-enhanced MRI is still missing. A possible reason certainly lies in difficulties based on the nonlinear dependence of signal intensity (SI) from contrast agent (CA) concentration. Both aspects were addressed in this study. Nine healthy pigs were examined by first-pass perfusion MRI using gadolinium diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA) and HO positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Multicenter evaluation of a second-generation assay for cardiac troponin T.

Abstract We report on the evaluation of the second-generation assay for cardiac troponin T (cTnT) on the Enzymun®system. This new assay is completely specific for the cardiac isoform of TnT, utilizing two cardiospecific monoclonal antibodies. The assay time is reduced to 45 min. The interassay precision shows a median CV of 5.5%; 20% interassay CV was found between 0.05 and 0.1 μg/L. The cardiosensitivity of the second-generation cTnT assay in patients with ischemic myocardial injury appears equivalent when compared with the first-generation assay. This study deals with the exploration and spatiotemporal quantification of the young Holocene, nearly skeleton-free floodplain sediments of the Lieser River, a tributary of the Mosel River in the Eifel Mts. The deposits are primarily a consequence of anthropogenic-triggered soil erosion in the catchment. To observe the phenomenon of corresponding soil erosion on multiple levels two small alluvial fans of tributary catchments were investigated. For comparison, one location in the neighboring Salm valley was described. The results were compared with those of other streams. The analysis of gene expression is a widespread issue in a growing number of fields such as molecular genetics, immunology, and medical diagnostics. The ideal method for mRNA detection should be fast, inexpensive, sensitive, and reliable.
