(Re)negotiating Freedom of Expression in the Spanish Transition: The Case of El Papus (1973-1987)

Juxtaposing documents from judicial and administrative archives with material published in the satirical magazine El Papus (1973-1987), this essay examines the confrontation between national-Catholic discourse and new modes of visual and textual expression in late Francoism and the early years of the democratic transition in Spain. The present study represents a survey of some 44 state-produced documents and 124 journalistic pieces, applying a two-pronged methodology rooted in discourse analysis with a special focus on the content and themes deemed unfit for publication in the pages of El Papus. Modulation of Irisin and Physical Activity on Executive Functions in Obesity and Morbid obesity

Whether the executive profile is different between obesity (OB) and morbid obesity (MO) remains unclear. Recent evidence suggests that physical activity (PA) can act as a cognitive enhancer. Irisin is a recently discovered hormone associated with some of the positive effects of PA. The objective of the study was to investigate the executive profile in OB and MO, and to explore the role of PA and irisin. 114 participants were included (21 OB, 44 MO and 49 healthy controls-HC) in the study and assessed with the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, Stroop Color and Word Test, and Iowa Gambling Task. Axiomatic characterization of the weighted solidarity values

Abstract We define and characterize the class of all weighted solidarity values . Our first characterization employs the classical axioms determining the solidarity value (except symmetry ), that is, efficiency , additivity and the A-null player axiom , and two new axioms called proportionality and strong individual rationality . In our second axiomatization, the additivity and the A-null player axioms are replaced by a new axiom called average marginality .

El presente trabajo analiza la acción social desarrollada por los diarios católicos Abc y El Debate durante la II República española a propósito de las reformas aprobadas en el campo de la enseñanza. Para ello, se analizan las estrategias de enmarcado dominantes a partir del examen de 355 documentos, publicados entre 1931 y 1933. Los resultados muestran que el discurso de estos periódicos buscó promover la movilización social. The general model for evaluating scientific production fits into the accountability system: a way of measuring scientific output which does not usually acknowledge the presence of gender imbalances in academic institutions. Here we take the need to rethink this system and the indicators it uses to measure productivity and scientific quality, as well as the social conditions in which these activities are measured, as a starting point.
