In this paper, I suggest that we apply the category of “social Theodicy” to Bastiat’s political and economic thought. By this category, it is possible to see how Bastiat’s reflection is aimed to justify the presence of “social pathologies” in society against socialist theorists’ intention to completely eliminate it by politics. Bastiat’s defense of free market and human rights is based upon the refusal of the anthropological presuppositions of socialist theories according to which the presence of evil in human history does not come from human being but from the structure of society. Estimates for Divergence Velocities of Axially Moving Orthotropic Thin Plates

Some models for axially moving orthotropic thin plates are investigated analytically via methods of complex analysis to derive estimates for critical plate velocities. Linearised Kirchhoff plate theory is used, and the energy forms of steady-state models are considered with homogeneous and inhomogeneous tension profiles in the cross direction of the plate. With the help of the energy forms, some limits for the divergence velocity of the plate are found analytically. In numerical examples, the derived lower limits for the divergence velocity are analysed for plates with small flexural rigidity. peerReviewed

Pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkastellaan 1930-luvun puristelasia suhteessa aikakauden suomalaiseen keskusteluun kodintuotteiden teollisesta valmistamisesta ja koneellisesti valmistettujen tuotteiden suunnittelusta. Tutkielman kolme päätutkimuskysymystä ovat: Millainen modernin kodinesineen tuli olla? Miten tällainen moderni kodinesine suunniteltiin ja valmistettiin? Miten sitä markkinoitiin? Päätutkimuskysymykset jakavat tutkielman kolmeen teemaan, joiden alla kysymyksiä käsitellään. Modernin kodinesineen määritelmää on pohdittu modernismia käsittelevän aikalaiskeskustelun kautta.
