Is Helicobacter pylori status relevant in the management of GORD?

2000

Summary There is growing interest in the relationship between H. pylori infection and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). However, this relationship is complex, as yet not fully elucidated, and probably based on a multiplicity of factors. The prevalence of H. pylori infection in patients with GORD is similar, more often lower than in matched controls. There is a negative correlation between H. pylori infection and the severity of GORD. There are many hypothetical mechanisms by which H. pylori infection may protect from the development of GORD. Conversely, there are many possible mechanisms by which H. pylori infection could theoretically foster the GORD. Patients after H. pylori eradi…

Horizontal and Vertical Reconstruction of the Severely Resorbed Maxillary Jaw Using Subantral Augmentation and a Novel Tenting Technique with Bone fr…

2013

Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of using the lateral wall bone in sinus lifting two-dimensional reconstruction on bone augmentation.Patients and Methods Ten patients affected by class V or VI maxillary atrophy with less than 3 mm of residual horizontal ridge were selected. Using a piezo-ultrasonic surgery tip bony lateral wall was cut. To expose native bone to the bone graft, multiple perforations, made through the cortical plate of the recipient site with a round bur. Once the bony buccal wall was adjusted it was fixed away from the ridge with two 1.5 x 13 mm bone fixation screws. Deficiencies created between the bony buccal wall and the ridge was filled with a mineral…

T1078 The Validity of a Biomarker Method for Indirect Detection of Gastric Mucosal Atrophy Versus Standard Histopathology

2008

Background Atrophy of the stomach mucosa is considered to be premalignant lesion for gastric cancer development; easy identification of this condition from a blood-sample would allow identifying the group of individuals at increased risk for cancer development.

Carboxytherapy in dermatology.

2022

Abstract Carboxytherapy is a medical technique during which a sterile gas—carbon dioxide—is injected into the subdermal tissue. The utility of carbon dioxide injections has enhanced the practical relevance of carboxytherapy as a method for the management of multiple disorders. We have evaluated its use in the treatment of dermatologic conditions by searching electronic databases (ie, MEDLINE and PubMed) for contributions in the English language through January 2021. Carboxytherapy provides an attractive aesthetic option in skin rejuvenation, atrophic scars, striae distensae (stretch marks), cellulite-fibrolipodystrophy adhesions after liposuction, and certain types of alopecia. We discuss t…

Influence of the prosthetic arm length (palatal position) of zygomatic implants upon patient satisfaction

2016

Background: To assess the influence of the prosthetic arm length (palatal position) of zygomatic implants upon patient comfort and stability, speech, functionality and overall satisfaction. Material and Methods: A retrospective clinical study was made of patients subjected to rehabilitation of atrophic maxilla with complete maxillary implant-supported fixed prostheses involving a minimum of two zygomatic implants (one on each side) in conjunction with premaxillary implants, and with 12 months of follow-up after implant loading. Subjects used a VAS to score general satisfaction, comfort and stability, speech and functionality, and the results were analyzed in relation to the prosthetic arm l…

Pepsinogēna un gastrīna-17 nozīme autoimūna gastrīta diagnostikā

2015

2005

Conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) are positional and geometric isomers of linoleic acid. Inclusion of CLA in the diet provokes a rapid and marked decrease in body weight gain and adiposity in mice leading to a lipoatrophic syndrome. However, CLA supplementation raised fasting blood glucose and insulin concentrations and was associated with severe insulin resistance and liversteatosis. Conflicting results have been reported with regard to reduction of fat mass in humans. We have reviewed the publish literature regarding the effect of CLA on body composition in humans and animal models. These studies indicate that t10-c12 was the isomer that reduced adipose fat storage, however it also increase…
