Definition of a mutual reference shape based on information theory and active contours

In this paper, we propose to consider the estimation of a reference shape from a set of different segmentation results using both active contours and information theory. The reference shape is then defined as the minimum of a criterion that benefits from both the mutual information and the joint entropy of the input segmentations. This energy criterion is here justified using similarities between information theory quantities and area measures, and presented in a continuous variational framework. We study the link which exists between microscopic (detailed) models for the evolution of the electronic configurations in a population of ions and the macroscopic (average ion) models. Rigorous asymptotics are presented in situations where they exist (large temperature; almost empty or almost full shells), and numerical simulations are presented.

The aim of this paper was to analyze the evolution of learning strategies of two groups of students, excellent and average, from 11 degrees of the UPV (Valencia/Spain) in their freshman year. We used the CEVEAPEU questionnaire. The results confirmed the availability of better strategies of excellent students and also the existence of evolutionary patterns in which affective-emotional strategies decrease, such as value of the task or internal attributions, and that others increase, such as extrinsic motivation and external attributions.
