Weyers acrodental dysostosis in a family.
1984
A four generation family with postaxial polydactyly of hands and feet and dental anomalies is reported. Lower and upper incisors were abnormal in shape and number. Additional findings were prominent ear anthelices, hypoplastic and dysplastic nails and mild shortness of stature. Inheritance was dominant with variable expression. It is proposed that the family presents the syndrome of acrofacial dysostosis described by Weyers in 1952. To differentiate it from other acrofacial dysostoses, we suggest naming the condition acrodental dysostosis.
Optimal Design of an X-Band, Fully-Coaxial, Easily-Tunable Broadband Power Equalizer for a Microwave Power Module
2020
A microwave power module (MPM), which is a hybrid combination of a solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) as a driver and a traveling-wave tube amplifier (TWT) as the final high power stage, is a high-power device largely used for radar applications. A gain equalizer is often required to flatten the TWT output power gain owing to its big gain fluctuations over the operating frequency range. In this paper, the design of an X-band, fully-coaxial, easily-tunable broadband power equalizer for an MPM is presented. The structure is composed of a coaxial waveguide as the main transmission line and a coaxial cavity loaded with absorbing material as a resonant unit. Sensitivity analyses of the attenuati…
The Italian version of the Depressive Experiences Questionnaire: psychometric properties and validation in students, community, and clinical groups
2017
The current study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Italian validation of the Depressive Experiences Questionnaire (DEQ), conceived as a measure of self-criticism and dependency, i.e. two personality factors acting, according to Blatt (2004), as risk factors for depression in particular and psychopathology in general. A series of standardized measures [Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), DEQ, Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R), Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory, 3rd edition (MCMI-III)] was administered to three samples (i.e., students, community and clinical). Factorial validity was evaluated along with convergent and predictive validity. In order to evaluate the reliability…
New preparation of ceramic coatings by low-pressure plasma spray
2018
As an advanced thermal spray technology, low-pressure plasma spray (LPPS) allows obtaining high-quality coatings and can bridge the thickness gap between conventional thermal spray technologies and standard thin film processes. Moreover, LPPS permits to build uniform coatings with various microstructures; deposition takes place not only from liquid splats but also from nano-sized clusters as well as from the vapor phase depending on operational conditions. In order to further improve and develop the LPPS process, this research aims to combine it with the emerging suspension plasma spray and reactive plasma spray processes. It was expected to both provide two novel integrated processes and a…
Long-term fracture load of all-ceramic crowns: Effects of veneering ceramic thickness, application techniques, and cooling protocol
2020
Made available in DSpace on 2021-06-25T10:46:25Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2020-11-01 Background: To evaluate, in vitro, the effects of the cooling protocol, application technique, and veneering ceramic thickness on the fracture resistance of ceramic crowns with Y-TZP frameworks. Material and Methods: 80 frameworks were made from zirconia by the CAD/CAM technique and divided into 8 groups (n = 10) according to the factors: “application technique” (stratified-L and pressed -P), “thickness” (1 mm and 2 mm), and “cooling protocol” (slow-S and fast-F) of the feldspathic veneering ceramic. After, all crowns were cemented over G10 preparations with resin cement (Panavia F, …
Online Consultations Between General Practitioners and Psychiatrists in the Netherlands
2021
Objective: To examine the nature and scope of questions about psychiatric patient cases submitted by general practitioners (GPs) to an established online consultation platform and to determine if they could have been answered by consulting existing clinical guidelines. Methods: All anonymized psychiatric cases submitted by GPs to the online electronic Prisma platform between September 2018 and November 2019 were examined in a mixed-methods study. Descriptive statistics and qualitative thematic analysis were used, followed by axial coding to arrive at overarching themes to characterize cases. Results: Of the 136 included cases, 44.1% concerned female patients and about half concerned patients …
New approach to describe two coupled spins in a variable magnetic field
2021
We propose a method to describe the evolution of two spins coupled by hyperfine i nteraction in an external time- dependent magnetic field. We apply the approach to the case of hyperfine interaction with axial symmetry, which can be solved exactly in a constant, appropriately oriented magnetic field. In order to t reat t he n onstationary d ynamical p roblem, we modify the time-dependent Schrödinger equation through a change of representation that, by exploiting an instantaneous (adiabatic) basis makes the time-dependent Hamiltonian diagonal at any time instant. The solution of the transformed time-dependent Schrödinger FRVBUJPO in the form of chronologically ordered exponents with transpar…
Compact Method for Proton Range Verification Based on Coaxial Prompt Gamma-Ray Monitoring: a Theoretical Study
2020
Range uncertainties in proton therapy hamper treatment precision. Prompt gamma-rays were suggested 16 years ago for real-time range verification, and have already shown promising results in clinical studies with collimated cameras. Simultaneously, alternative imaging concepts without collimation are investigated to reduce the footprint and price of current prototypes. In this manuscript, a compact range verification method is presented. It monitors prompt gamma-rays with a single scintillation detector positioned coaxially to the beam and behind the patient. Thanks to the solid angle effect, proton range deviations can be derived from changes in the number of gamma-rays detected per proton,…
BIAXIAL CURVATURE AND DUCTILITY CAPACITY OF RC COLUMN BASE CROSS SECTIONS
2014
The deformation performance of the base cross sections of reinforced concrete buildings is fundamental when large seismic events occur allowing the structure to have large excursions in nonlinear field and guaranteeing an overall ductile behaviour. It is well known that the axial force acting on columns significantly reduces the curvature capacity of the sections and for this reason the technical codes give design criteria stating a limitation in order to preserve the displacement capacity. It is also recognized that when biaxial bending occur the cross section undergo a loss in strength capacity. Starting the study of from Bresler (1960), which provided suitable expression to predict 3D li…
A Ferrite Tubular Linear Permanent Magnet Generator (FTLPMG) analysis and design
2014
Several linear synchronous generators for the exploitation of sea wave energy have been proposed. Such machines do not require reactive power for the magnetization since they use permanent magnets for the excitation. The use of permanent magnets in a rough environment such as the marine environment may be a very weak point in the application of these kind of devices. In order to overcome this difficulty, the authors in this paper propose a linear synchronous electrical generator. Its excitation uses ferrites as suitable solutions to extract energy from sea waves. This paper describes the analysis and design of an improved axially magnetized tubular permanent-magnet machine in which several …
