Acute Postcataract Surgery Endophthalmitis Due to Streptococcus Species Differs From Endophthalmitis Due to Staphylococcus Species at Presentation
2009
Purpose: : To correlate the presenting clinical ophthalmic features with the bacterial identification in 100 patients with acute post catarcat endophthalmitis enrolled in the FRench Instutionnal ENdophthalmitis Study (FRIENDS).Methods: : Demographic data, past medical history and initial eye examination were recorded in a standardized form in 100 patients with acute endophthalmitis after cataract extraction (< 6 weeks) in a prospective multicenter study. Relationship between microbiological identification (using conventional cultures and panbacterial PCR) and clinical factors at baseline was studied using univariate (ANOVA).Results: : 100 patients were hospitalized for endophthalmitis treat…
Influence of citrates nanoparticles on morphological traits of bacterial cells pseudomonas syringae pv. atrofaciens
2020
Electron microscope investigations have revealed disintegration of the cell wall of Pseudomonas syringae pv. atrofaciens and subsequent killing of bacterial cells after application of 1% solutions of the citrates of Ag-Cu nanoparticles, the complex Co-Cu-Zn-Fe-Mn-Mo-Mg (Avatar-1) and iodine-selenium. In field conditions, it was revealed that pre-sowing treatment of wheat seeds with the aforementioned 1% solutions significantly inhibited the development of basal glume rot in cereals with artificial infection of Pseudomonas syringae рv. аtrofaciens. Consequently, reduction of the typical symptoms of basal glume rot of cereals and the percentage of isolated cells of Pseudomonas syringae рv. аt…
Identification of phytopathogenic bacteria in maize seeds in Ukraine
2018
The main bacterial diseases of maize: bacterial wilt of maize (Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii), goss’s bacterial wilt (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. nebraskensis), seed rot-seedling blight of maize (Bacillus subtilis), bacterial spot of maize (Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae), bacterial leaf spot of maize (Pantoea agglomerans) and bacterial stalk rot of maize caused by several causative agents, were described. The causative agents of these diseases are often stored and transmitted with seeds, so seed analysis for the presence of phytopathogenic bacteria is an important step in the pathogen control system. For analysis, the corn seeds that were grown in the Poltava and Kiev regions …
Comparison of Delivery Methods in Phage Therapy against Flavobacterium columnare Infections in Rainbow Trout
2021
This dataset consists of three phage therapy experiments to prevent Flavobacterium columnare infections in rainbow trout. Experiments I and II were done in stagnant water, and Experiment III in a flow-through system. See the documentation file attached with the dataset for full description of the methods (also found in the original article).
Aeromonas salmonicida in Finland: pathological problems associated with atypical and typical strains
1991
. Aeromonas salmonicida was studied at fish farms producing salmonid smolts in northern and central Finland from 1982 onwards. Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida has been causing epizootics in salmon, Salmo salar L., and trout, S. trutta L., at two coastal farms in northern Finland sinee 1986, involving 1–29% mortality in the fish-rearing units affceted. The disease causes more serious losses of sea trout yearlings and brood fish than of salmon. The achromogenic atypical A. salmonicida proved to be the most common bacterial disease in brown and sea trout at one farm in northern Finland throughout the period, causing constant heavy losses, mainly of fingerlings, especially in 1982–1986…
Antibiotic susceptibility of the bacteria causing odontogenic infections
2006
Review of European and American guidelines for the diagnosis of Lyme borreliosis
2019
International audience; Lyme disease is a tick-borne bacterial disease with polymorphic clinical manifestations (cutaneous, rheumatological, and neurological). In recent years the issue of the diagnosis of this infection has been highly publicized on the Internet and other media in Europe and America. Some patients and physicians may share the perception that the diagnosis of the infection is not reliable in France. We reviewed current European and American guidelines on Lyme disease and performed a methodological evaluation of all guidelines. We retrieved 16 guidelines from seven countries. Our analysis revealed a global consensus regarding diagnosis at each stage of the infection. All gui…
