Arvien vairāk ģimeņu migrē, kļūstot par globāliem nomadiem un attīstot transnacionālu identitāti. Tāpēc lielāka uzmanība jāpievērš imigrantu bērniem, jo īpaši gados jaunāki cilvēki kļūst par trešās kultūras bērniem. Tā ir kultūra, kas ir atšķirīga no dzimtās zemes un mītnes zemes kultūras. Latvijā un Vācijā ir līdzīga problēma – izglītības sistēma nav pietiekami adaptēta imigrantu bērniem. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt konceptu „trešās kultūras bērni” un pieejamo informāciju par tešo valstu bērnu integrāciju abās valstīt, piemērojot kvalitatīvo pētniecības metodi, lai apkopotu un analizētu datus. Four species of lichen-forming fungi (Calicium pinastri, Chaenotheca laevigata, Lecania croatica and Pycnora praestabilis) and two lichenicolous fungi (Arthrorhaphis aeruginosa and Chaenothecopsis epithallina) are reported as new for Latvia. The first comprehensive list of lichenicolous fungi in Latvia is also presented, including their hosts and distribution in Latvia (northern Europe).

Darbā tiek apskatīta emigrācijas plūsma no Krievijas Impērijas uz Kanādu caur Libau (mūsdienās – Liepāju) ostu laika posmā no 1906. – 1914. gadam, kad starp Libau un Ziemeļameriku bija tieša jūras ceļu satiksme. Pētījuma pamatā ir oriģinālie kuģniecības manifesti, kas tiek salīdzināti un pretstatīti akadēmiskajiem pētījumiem par dažādām emigrantu grupām Kanādā. Pieejamie dati par galvenajām etniskajām grupām astoņu gadu posmā tiek salīdzināti, pretstatīti un papildināti ar aptaujāto emigrantu, kas emigrējuši no Krievijas Impērijas uz Kanādu šajā laika posmā, pēcteču teikto un Libau ostas apstākļu analīzi šīs emigrācijas laikā, kas balstīta šī laika krievu, britu, amerikāņu, ebreju un latvie…
