Midrapidity Antiproton-to-Proton Ratio inppCollisons ats=0.9and 7 TeV Measured by the ALICE Experiment
2010
The ratio of the yields of antiprotons to protons in pp collisions has been measured by the ALICE experiment at root s = 0.9 and 7 TeV during the initial running periods of the Large Hadron Collider. The measurement covers the transverse momentum interval 0.45 < p(t) < 1.05 GeV/c and rapidity vertical bar y vertical bar < 0.5. The ratio is measured to be R-vertical bar y vertical bar<0.5 = 0.957 +/- 0.006(stat) +/- 0.0014(syst) at 0.9 Tev and R-vertical bar y vertical bar<0.5 = 0.991 +/- 0.005 +/- 0.014(syst) at 7 TeV and it is independent of both rapidity and transverse momentum. The results are consistent with the conventional model of baryon-number transport and set stringent limits on a…
Ab initio three-loop calculation of the W -exchange contribution to nonleptonic decays of double charm baryons
2019
We have made an ab initio three-loop quark model calculation of the $W$-exchange contribution to the nonleptonic two-body decays of the doubly charmed baryons $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ and $\Omega_{cc}^{+}$. The $W$-exchange contributions appear in addition to the factorizable tree graph contributions and are not suppressed in general. We make use of the covariant confined quark model previously developed by us to calculate the tree graph as well as the $W$-exchange contribution. We calculate helicity amplitudes and quantitatively compare the tree graph and $W$-exchange contributions. Finally, we compare the calculated decay widths with those from other theoretical approaches when they are available.
Observation ofJ/ψpResonances Consistent with Pentaquark States inΛb0→J/ψK−pDecays
2015
Observations of exotic structures in the J/ψp channel, that we refer to as pentaquark-charmonium states, in Λ0b→J/ψK−p decays are presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3/fb acquired with the LHCb detector from 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions. An amplitude analysis is performed on the three-body final-state that reproduces the two-body mass and angular distributions. To obtain a satisfactory fit of the structures seen in the J/ψp mass spectrum, it is necessary to include two Breit-Wigner amplitudes that each describe a resonant state. The significance of each of these resonances is more than 9 standard deviations. One has a mass of 4380±8±29 MeV and a width of 205±1…
Search for Second-Class Currents inτ−→ωπ−ντ
2009
We report an analysis of tau- decaying into omega.pi-.nu_tau with omega -> pi+pi-pi0 using a data sample containing nearly 320 million tau pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-Factory. We find no evidence for second-class currents and we set an upper limit of 0.69% at 90% confidence level for the fraction of second-class currents in this decay mode.
Meson baryon components in the states of the baryon decuplet
2013
We apply an extension of the Weinberg compositeness condition on partial waves of $L=1$ and resonant states to determine the weight of meson-baryon component in the $\Delta(1232)$ resonance and the other members of the $J^P= \frac{3}{2}^+$ baryon decuplet. We obtain an appreciable weight of $\pi N$ in the $\Delta(1232)$ wave function, of the order of 60 \%, which looks more natural when one recalls that experiments on deep inelastic and Drell Yan give a fraction of $\pi N$ component of 34 \% for the nucleon. We also show that, as we go to higher energies in the members of the decuplet, the weights of meson-baryon component decrease and they already show a dominant part for a genuine, non me…
Regge phenomenology of theN*andΔ*poles
2019
We use Regge phenomenology to study the structure of the poles of the ${N}^{*}$ and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}}^{*}$ spectrum. We employ the available pole extractions from partial wave analysis of meson scattering and photoproduction data. We assess the importance of the imaginary part of the poles (widths) to obtain a consistent determination of the parameters of the Regge trajectory. We compare the several pole extractions and show how Regge phenomenology can be used to gain insight into the internal structure of baryons. We find that the majority of the states in the parent Regge trajectories are compatible with a mostly compact three-quark state picture.
Chiral dynamics of baryon resonances and hadrons in a nuclear medium
2005
In these lectures I make an introduction to chiral unitary theory applied to the meson baryon interaction and show how several well known resonances are dynamically generated, and others are predicted. Two very recent experiments are analyzed, one of them showing the existence of two $\Lambda(1405)$ states and the other one providing support for the $\Lambda(1520)$ resonance as a quasibound state of $\Sigma(1385) \pi$. The use of chiral Lagrangians to account for the hadronic interaction at the elementary level introduces a new approach to deal with the modification of meson and baryon properties in a nuclear medium. Examples of it for $\bar{K}$, $\eta$ and $\phi$ modification in the nuclea…
Chiral approach to antikaons in dense matter
2008
Antikaons in dense nuclear matter are studied using a chiral unitary approach which incorporates the s- and p-waves of the \( \bar K \) N interaction. We include, in a self-consistent way, Pauli blocking effects, meson self-energies modified by nuclear short-range correlations and baryon binding potentials. We show that the on-shell factorization cannot be applied to evaluate the in-medium corrections to p-wave amplitudes. We also obtain an attractive shift for the Λ and Σ masses of −30 MeV at saturation density while the Σ* width gets sensibly increased to about 80 MeV. The moderate attraction developed by the antikaon does not support the existence of very deep and narrow bound states.
Two-, Three-, Many-body Systems Involving Mesons. Multimeson Condensates
2015
In this talk we review results from studies with unconventional many hadron systems containing mesons: systems with two mesons and one baryon, three mesons, some novel systems with two baryons and one meson, and finally systems with many vector mesons, up to six, with their spins aligned forming states of increasing spin. We show that in many cases one has experimental counterparts for the states found, while in some other cases they remain as predictions, which we suggest to be searched in BESIII, Belle, LHCb, FAIR and other facilities.
Recent Developments in Chiral Dynamics of Hadrons and Hadrons in Nuclei
2007
In this talk I present recent developments in the field of hadronic physics and hadrons in the nuclear medium. I review the unitary chiral approach to meson baryon interaction and address the topics of the two dynamically generated $\Lambda(1405)$ resonances, with experiments testing it, the $\Lambda(1520)$ and $\Delta(1700)$ resonances, plus the $\Lambda(1520)$, $\Sigma(1385)$ and $\omega$ in the nuclear medium.
