Can obligatory omnivore carabids be useful for the biocontrol of weeds?

2017

National audience; Many thousands of carabid individuals exist in farm fields, in communities of carnivore and opportunistic (e.g. granivores) and obligate omnivore guilds. As carabids can eat a substantial amount of weed seeds they are considered as credible biocontrol agents for the regulation of weeds in arable fields. Some studies have suggested that “granivores” are more important biocontrol agents than obligate omnivorous species. Yet, in some instances, obligate omnivores are very abundant and appear to drive the predation of weeds leading some authors to question whether specialist natural enemies are better. Moreover, niche complementarity, facilitation and interference (i.e. intra…

Les comportements alimentaires. Quels en sont les déterminants ? Quelles actions pour les faire évoluer vers une meilleure adéquation avec les recomm…

2012

International audience; Although public policies have for many years spearheaded information campaigns about how eating affects health, rising obesity rates show that the expected effects have yet to be achieved. Why consumers do not practically comply with nutritional recommendations? This question lead the ministry in charge of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries to require in 2010 an updated state of knowledge for peer-reviewed literature and to commission INRA to undertake a collective scientific expertise on dietary behaviours. The aim was to investigate the multiple determinants of behaviours and how behaviours form and change in individuals according to social class and age, but also col…

Spatial fuzzy consumer's behavior : a multidimensional analysis

1983

This paper is devoted to a multidimensional analysis of the consumer'sbehavior when the decisionmaker is acting in a fuzzy space and pointingout an imprecise attitude. At first, the process of decisionmaking is described with the help of three relationships between the set of goods which are supplied in several points, the set of their characteristics and the set of consumer's a priori possible behaviors. All these relations are fuzzy. The model applies the theory of fuzzy relations equations. Then, the stages of the decision process are analyzed. Often fuzzy comportemental relations are like "black boxes". The mathematical solution of the model indicates in which conditions their valuation…

Les enquêtes client mystère : un dispositif de gestion au service des transformations organisationnelles ou comment réorganiser l'entreprise " au nom…

2012

The mystery shopping technique is a tool frequently used by organizations to hit a double target: (1) to seduce/to reassure/ to make the customer regular; (2) to diffuse the customer's voice in the organization and to justify the change. Although a great diffusion of the mystery shopping in private and public organizations, there are few studies on this tool. From the SNCF's example, the author considers the mystery shopping from the foucaldian point of view as a management mechanism in order to support organizational changes and analyses the effects of power induced by this tool.

CO2 EFFECTS ON SPAWNING RATES OF A MEDITERRANEAN NESTING WRASSE

2014

Some aspects of the reproductive behaviour of the ocellated wrasse Symphodus ocellatus (Forsskål 1775) were investigated in wild conditions along a pCO2 gradient. Our results show no differences in the number of females, sneakers and satellite males involved in the spawning phase under two pCO2 conditions. However, the spawning rate of nesting males was negatively affected in high pCO2, whilst exerted a normal reproductive pattern in ambient pCO2.

Motility and acoustic signals of the decapod Cherax destructor

2021

The present study examined for the first time the sound production and motility of the freshwater decapod crustacean Cherax destructor. An acoustic and video system was used to monitor the behavior of 10 individual (5 males and 5 females) in an experimental tank. Video data were used to analyze three motility variables (velocity, distance moved, and angular velocity). Acoustic data were analyzed to obtain abundance and these acoustic parameters: duration, 1st and 2nd peak frequency, sound pressure level (SPL) and the bandwidth. Both males and females produced short-duration pulses that could be grouped into three categories, high, medium, and low frequency. Males showed a higher rate of emi…

REARING STYLES IN ADOLESCENCE: THEIR RELATION WITH PROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR

2007
