Citrus flavonoids: Molecular structure, biological activity and nutritional properties: A review
2007
Abstract Epidemiological studies have shown an inverse relationship between dietary flavonoid intakes and cardiovascular diseases. Citrus fruits are the main winter fruits consumed in the Mediterranean diet, so they are the main source of dietary flavonoids. The possible beneficial effects are due, not only to the high amounts of vitamins and minerals, but also to the antioxidant properties of their flavonoids. Dietary flavonoids may help to supplement the body antioxidant defences against free radicals. These compounds’ possible beneficial effects are due to their antioxidant activity, which is related to the development of atherosclerosis and cancer, and to anti-inflammatory and antimicro…
Ozone and autologous therapies [abstract]
2019
PURPOSE: One of the proven effects of Ozone Therapy, is the releasing of Growth Factors from Platelets. Some other therapies can have similar effects. Autologous Therapies can be defined as “The therapy that is done by transferring cells, tissues, body liquids originating from the recipient rather than from donor.” The purpose of this presentation is to give information on those therapies.

DISCUSSION: There are several therapies in this group, such as Stem Cell Therapies, Dentric Cell Vaccine Therapy, Autologous immune enhancement therapy, etc. But most of them are so difficult that we can not practise at office conditions where some therapies can be done at small clinic and pr…
Previous Training in the Water Maze
1999
It has been shown that acquisition rates in the water maze vary across strains of mice, although the differential effects of previous experience in this spatial task have been scarcely evaluated. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of training in the water maze at an early age (2 months) in two strains of mice (NMRI and C57BL) using a longitudinal study. Mice with or without previous training were tested when they were 6 months, and retested when 10 months old. The results showed that trained NMRI mice performed better than all the other groups, both at test and retest, indicating that previous training had more beneficial effects in NMRI than in C57BL mice. These resul…
Beneficia imperiali e 'logica del sistema'. Spunti di metodo tra le righe di Alberto Burdese.
2016
The contribution deals with some hermeneutical positions of classical Jurists concerning the beneficia imperialia from the point of view of their deviating from the ‘ratio iuris’. The Author – by recalling the metodological warning of Alberto Burdese about paying vigilant and cautious attention for the textual data – examines some sources which regard the relationship between beneficia and regulae iuris and between beneficia, aequitas, utilitas and the attribution of the interpretation of beneficia directly to the Emperor.
If we eat soy, do we keep the beneficial effects of the Mediterranean diet?
2020
PurposeThis study aims to evaluate if soya consumption can compromise or positively influence the effects of the Mediterranean diet (MD).Design/methodology/approachA full literature review has been conducted as part of a proposal of a new point of view on the consumption of soya and its derivatives in areas where until a few decades ago this type of food did not exist at all.FindingsThere does not seem to be any contraindications for soy systematic use, therefore, excluding historical-geographical reasons, soya could be included in an MD without altering the benefits associated with it.Practical implicationsSoya is not advised as a typical food in the MD, but promoting its use could probabl…
Are Cover Crops Affecting the Quality and Sustainability of Fruit Production?
2021
The study of the interaction between fruit trees and cover crops has been addressed in numerous works over the last 50 years or more, evidencing the need to evolve from a productive orchard to an orchard that plays different ecosystem roles in terms of environmental sustainability rather than just productivity. This review, through an analysis of the scientific literature since the 1950s, highlights the development of sustainable soil management models in fruit tree orchards, mostly considering the relationship with fruit quality traits and with the ecosystem services that result from the adoption of cover crops, aiming at identifying and formulating technical recommendations in perennial o…
Entrepreneurship Training and Self-Employment among University Graduates
2012
In economies characterized by low labor demand and high rates of youth unemployment, entrepreneurship training has the potential to enable youth to gain skills and create their own jobs. This paper presents experimental evidence on a new entrepreneurship track that provides business training and personalized coaching to university students in Tunisia. Undergraduates in the final year of licence appliquee were given the opportunity to graduate with a business plan instead of following the standard curriculum. This paper relies on randomized assignment of the entrepreneurship track to identify impacts on labor market outcomes one year after graduation. The analysis finds that the entrepreneur…
The Effectiveness of Vitamin E Treatment in Alzheimer’s Disease
2019
Vitamin E was proposed as treatment for Alzheimer’s disease many years ago. However, the effectiveness of the drug is not clear. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and neuroprotector and it has anti-inflammatory and hypocholesterolemic properties, driving to its importance for brain health. Moreover, the levels of vitamin E in Alzheimer’s disease patients are lower than in non-demented controls. Thus, vitamin E could be a good candidate to have beneficial effects against Alzheimer’s. However, evidence is consistent with a limited effectiveness of vitamin E in slowing progression of dementia; the information is mixed and inconclusive. The question is why does vitamin E fail to tre…

2015
For Spain the importance of tourism both national and international, does not hold any doubts for those versed in the subject. A few general figures suffice to illustrate this. In 1991 a total of 53.5 million people visited Spain, a slightly higher number than the 52 million which did in 1990, and slightly less than the 52 million of the previous year, this meant a revenue of 19,004 million dollars in 1991, 18,593 million dollars in 1990 and 16,174 million dollars in 1989. Tourism achieved a participation in the Gross Domestic Product of 8.74% in 1989. In the last few years 85% of tourists have been from Portugal, followed by West Germany with 13% and the U.K. with 12%, as the major contrib…
