The Human Aspect of Christ between Classic and Quantum Consciousness: Gethsemane - Anxiety & Depression between Biochemistry & Anthropology

2012

The studies carried out in recent years on the molecular dynamics of consciousness, especially in relation to diseases such as major depression and bipolar disorder, on man considered as a synthesis of nature and culture, in their interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary expression, prompted us to carry out the molecular logic involving the human component of Christ (Christ-Man). On the basis of evidence presented in the Holy Scriptures, regarding the hours that preceded his death, we tend, in the light of the molecular pathway related to mood disorders, to attribute a possible form of depression to Christ-Man, without of course, undermining the faith in the transcendent nature of the Christ…

The function and rendering in Latvian of genitive constructions in the semantic structure of the Book of Lamentations of Gregor from Narek (in Armeni…

2008

This report deals with the semantics of genitive constructions (adnominal genitive) in Matean Voghberguthean as well as with the searches for rendering equivalents in Latvian. It is based on the method of paraphrase with one or more transformations – the propositions described by John Beekman and John Callow in their fundamental work Translating the Word of God. This method helps to clarify syntactical and logical relations in the word groups and to elucidate the meaning of the phrase. Grammatical construction of adnominal Genitive (nomen regens – nomen rectum) has different functions in the semantic structure of Matean. Along with the more traditional semantics instances of the adnominal g…

Religious spaces as continually evolving modernities: Forms of encounter with modernity in Christian Orthodoxy and Islam

2022

The present study deals with the encounter with modernity in two neighbouring religious spaces: Christian Orthodoxy and Islam. Relying on Eisenstadt’s theory about multiple modernities and on its further developments by Thomas Mergel and Kristina Stoeckl, Islamic and Christian-Orthodox dynamics in relation to the challenges of modernity are examined under two aspects: first, the decoupling between religion and culture as elaborated by Olivier Roy, and second, the development of modernist and fundamentalist currents as phenomena of modernity. The study contributes to the sketching of the profile of Islamic and the Christian-Orthodox modernities, pointing both to some of the commonalities and…

The problems of the dialogue of quantum mechanics and theology

2005

The paper is a review of bordering problems between quantum mechanics, describing the microworld, and Christian theology. The basic concepts of quantum mechanics and their essential distinctions from our notions about the macroworld are given in a popular way. The outlined methodological principles of quantum mechanics are used as an analogy for the illustration of Christian faith miracle, taking as an example the celebration of Holy Communion. The problem of relationships between the methodology of quantum mechanics and the observer’s consciousness is analyzed. The critical appraisal of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is given. The possibilty of a deeper understanding o…
