Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Versus Sertraline in Patients With Depression and Poorly Controlled Diabetes: The Diabetes and Depression (DAD) Study

OBJECTIVE This study compared the long-term efficacy of a diabetes-specific cognitive behavioral group therapy (CBT) with sertraline in patients with diabetes and depression who initially responded to short-term depression treatment. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS A randomized controlled single-blind trial was conducted in 70 secondary care centers across Germany comparing 12 weeks of CBT with sertraline in 251 patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes (mean HbA1c 9.3%, 78 mmol/mol) and major depression (Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV [SCID]). Non-pharmacological treatment of sexual problems – A review of research literature 1970–2008

Summary Based on a review covering 80 research papers selected from a larger material on effect of non-pharmacological treatment of sexual problems, treatment methods and techniques for common sexual problems are presented and the treatment effects are discussed in relation to the specific problem. Treatment methods are organised according to different groups: Psychodynamic, hypnosis, behavioural, cognitive, cognitive-behavioural, educational, marital, group therapy, sex therapy and bibliotherapy. One of the key roles within stepfamilies, the role of stepmother has been and still is stigmatized with an aura of wickedness, produced by folk and fairy tales as well as by the media. W artykule zaprezentowana została biblioterapia jako metoda mająca zastosowanie w szerokim procesie edukacyjnym. Autorka stara się wykazać, że współczesna szkoła, będąca w przededniu reformy, powinna czerpać z dotychczasowych doświadczeń oraz osiągnięć neurodydaktyki. Opisane zostały sposoby wykorzystania biblioterapii jako metody rozwijającej wiedzę o świecie społecznym czytelnika. Ma ona również zastosowanie w rewalidacji jako metoda odpowiadająca na potrzeby rozwojowe dzieci i niepełnosprawnej młodzieży.
