All legal systems by now must confront the issue of environmental protection. The scope of this paper is to analyse the Ecuadorian approach, considering that it is the only legal system which, so far, has constitutionalized the rights of Nature, thus allowing a change in the status of Nature, from object to subject of law, overcoming the traditional approach of Western environmental law. ¿Puede ser ecológico el estilo moderno de vida?

Se trata de responder a la pregunta sobre la posibilidad de un estilo de vida ecológico en las condiciones de la vida moderna; es decir, teniendo en cuenta la condición técnica y económica del hombre, la tecnologización de la sociedad, la nueva cultura económica basada en el crecimiento económico, la ilimitada producción y el imperio del consumo. Como vía de solución se propone una ética universal de la responsabilidad solidaria para un ethos ecológico, capaz de superar el habitual dilema entre los valores del biocentrismo y del humanismo.

These pages aim to answer the question, from the ethical theory, of whether it is necessary to extend the universe of moral beings in order to account for the responsibility we have for other beings and for nature in general. To this end, we review the various proposals calling for an extension to the moral community. Following the critical dialogue with these traditions, we argue that the moral community does not need to be extended, but that the concept of moral responsibility requires reconstruction
Biocentrisms Ludviga Klāgesa filozofijā

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir aplūkot Ludviga Klāgesa filozofijā saskatāmo biocentrismu un noteikt šī jēdziena lietojuma robežas Klāgesa darbu kontekstā. Klāgesa darbos postulēto problēmu potenciālie risinājumi norāda uz ētisku uzstādījumu nepieciešamību, bet nesniedz acīmredzamu adekvātu teorētisko pamatu. Aplūkojot Klāgesa filozofiju, noprotama visai radikāla racionālisma, zinātnes, kristietības un antropocentrisma kritika. Balstoties apsvērumos par vēsturi, filozofisko antropoloģiju un ētiku bakalaura darbā tiek norādīts, ka biocentrisms kā ētiska doktrīna nav savienojama ar Klāgesa uzskatiem: biocentrisms saprotams drīzāk kā metafizisks uzstādījums.
