Reconstructing Moral Development—Kohlberg Meets Oevermann
2015
Biography and biographical research are also part of the work of the late Lawrence Kohlberg. Coming from developmental research in terms of morality, i.e. justice, at the end of his career he became interested in some holistic (biographical) concepts of development, putting different research traditions such as those represented by Erik H. Erikson, James Marcia, William Perry and others and his own research together. It is in this direction that we are going to focus our research.

Filippo II allo specchio del suo mondo
2019
Col. XXII.9-48
2018
Until recently, Philodemus’ treatise On Household Management (Περὶ οἰκονομίας, PHerc. 1424) has been mainly used as a source for the reconstruction of early Epicurean economic thought (especially of Metrodorus’ writing Περὶ πλούτου). Over the past few years, however, scholars have called attention to Philodemus’ creative (yet philosophically orthodox) readaptation of Epicurean ethical and social theories to the needs of contemporary Roman society. Following this scholarly line, the present paper reassesses a passage from On Household Management (col. XXII.9–48) which has so far been interpreted as an unoriginal repetition of Metrodorus’ arguments, and situates it in the cultural context of …
Sonnets for a City on a Hill
2012
One factor – one among many – that lends a work of art dynamism and interest is tension. Both the making and the reading of poems can be thought of as dynamic processes. Processes that begin with the gradual discovery of their own obstacles and, in finding satisfactory ways to overcome them, achieve completion by integrating resolved conflicts into an expanded field of understanding.

2015
The Horla , written twice, is considered as a masterpiece of a short horror story. Its two versions are still objects of critics’ arguments : some of them see in the second text an amplified and revised version of the first one, whereas others consider the two texts as two separate stories. The paper tries to consider the two Horlas as two complementary parts of the same story ; the first is told by a completely ‘normal’ person who has asked to live in a lunatic asylum, and the second, full of striking, strong emotions, is given by someone who gives up more and more to mental troubles caused by his fear of the unknown, the unnamed, the invisible. Considered in this way, the texts of the two…
