ANOTĀCIJA Promocijas darbs „Johana Kristofa Broces (Brotze, 1742-1823) dzīvesgājums un viņa rokrakstu kolekcija LU Akadēmiskajā bibliotēkā” ir interdisciplinārs humanitāro zinātņu pētījums, kas veltīts Latvijas kultūrvēsturē īpaši nozīmīgas personības biogrāfijas rekonstrukcijai un viņa darbības analīzei, un tādējādi risina bibliotēku vēstures, grāmatniecības, avotpētniecības, historiogrāfijas problēmas. Hell on earth: Textual reflections on the experience of mental illness

Background: Some people who by themselves or by others are understood as having mental health problems have written autobiographies about their experiences. Aims: The aim of this study is to explore how people write about their experiences of being mentally ill. Method: Twelve Scandinavian autobiographies were studied using content analysis based on phenomenology and hermeneutics. Results: Three themes were identified: feeling like a stranger in life and places, the transformation of life experiences into questions of disease and feeling ashamed. In a postcolonial context, this research looks into the itineraries of French expatriates, from a former colonial empire, in Malaysia, a former British colony. The autobiographical discourses of the French expatriates, blogs, research writings and research interviews, are analyzed in terms of the articulation between individual experiences and collective representations, interrogating how experiencing alterity, as well as writing or speaking about it, participates in the construction of identities. Biography and biographical research are also part of the work of the late Lawrence Kohlberg. Coming from developmental research in terms of morality, i.e. justice, at the end of his career he became interested in some holistic (biographical) concepts of development, putting different research traditions such as those represented by Erik H. Erikson, James Marcia, William Perry and others and his own research together. It is in this direction that we are going to focus our research.
