Segmentanatomie der Leber in der Computertomographie: Lokalisieren wir die Läsionen richtig?*

2000

Purpose: To evaluate if Couinaud's model using the planes of the major veins is an adequate tool for the presurgical localization of focal liver lesions. Methods: Biphasic helical CT scans were performed on patients evaluated for liver resection using an increased IV bolus of contrast medium (180 ml lopamidol) and 2 mm image reconstruction increments. During the first evaluation, all liver lesions were localized in the conventional way using the planes of the 3 major hepatic veins and the portal trunks as segmental boundaries. In a second review, all lesions were attributed to the nearest peripheral portal branches. The path and the segmental attribution of the portal branches were analysed…

Hormesis: Decoding Two Sides of the Same Coin

2015

In the paradigm of drug administration, determining the correct dosage of a therapeutic is often a challenge. Several drugs have been noted to demonstrate contradictory effects per se at high and low doses. This duality in function of a drug at different concentrations is known as hormesis. Therefore, it becomes necessary to study these biphasic functions in order to understand the mechanistic basis of their effects. In this article, we focus on different molecules and pathways associated with diseases that possess a duality in their function and thus prove to be the seat of hormesis. In particular, we have highlighted the pathways and factors involved in the progression of cancer and how t…

Comparison of imidazolium and pyridinium ionic liquids as the media for biphasic ethylene polymerization in the presence of titanocene catalyst

2009

Wydajności polimeryzacji i właściwości polimerów otrzymanych z udziałem wymienionych cieczy jonowych porównano z odpowiednimi wielkościami uzyskanymi wcześniej przy udziale cieczy imidazoliowej ([C8-mim]+ [AlCl4]-) (tabele 1 i 2). Stwierdzono, że wprowadzenie do układu pirydyniowych zamiast imidazoliowych cieczy jonowych skutkuje wzrostem całkowitej wydajności procesu, wi…
