Contribution to the molecular study of the oxidative stability of white wines of Burgundy
2019
In order to understand and control the aging of wines, particularly white wines, it is necessary to deepen our knowledge about the physico-chemical mechanisms of oxidation related to oxygenation processes. For this, it is important to have tools to quantify the antioxidant capacity of white wines, and to identify the compoiunds involved, in order to anticipate the aging ability of a wine.In this study, analyzes of the antioxidant capacity by DPPH and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) were carried out on a large number of wines during aging and from several vintages, in parallel with metabolomic analyzes, mainly carried out by Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TO…

La langue affrontée : voix intimes des domestiques dans The Cattle Killing de John Edgar Wideman
2017
The Cattle Killing traces the path a young Black itinerant preacher – a former slave reduced to vagrancy in plague-ridden 1793 Philadelphia. During his travels, he encounters Liam and Mrs. Stubbs, a Black man and a white woman, both former servants who have come from England where Liam was indentured to painter George Stubbs while his wife was Stubbs’ maid. They came to America in hope of a better life that would save them from ambiant racism. The preacher also meets Kathryn, a black woman serving the wife of a famous Abolitionnist, a Founding Father and enlightened humanist. Kathryn works as an amanuensis for her blind mistress and writes a diary the latter dictates. Yet the servant surrep…
First-Hand Becomes Second-Hand: André Brink's A Dry White Season
2009
This paper offers a reading of André Brink's novel A Dry White Season in relation to his own essay The Novel:. Language and Narrative From Cervantes to Calvino. The aim is to demonstrate that Brink's theory can help highlight aspects of his apartheid writings which have often been neglected. The paper explores, in particular, the metafictional features of a novel more famous for its committed nature than for its self-reflexivity
