Signal dimension estimation in BSS models with serial dependence

Many modern multivariate time series datasets contain a large amount of noise, and the first step of the data analysis is to separate the noise channels from the signals of interest. A crucial part of this dimension reduction is determining the number of signals. In this paper we approach this problem by considering a noisy latent variable time series model which comprises many popular blind source separation models. We propose a general framework for the estimation of the signal dimension that is based on testing for sub-sphericity and give examples of different tests suitable for time series settings. Fabrication and characterization of Donor/Acceptor heterojunction organic solar cells

Results of initial development of organic solar cells having the Donor/Acceptor heterojunction structure with and without an exciton blocking layer are reported. Characterization is carried out in AM1.0 condition with 100 mW/cm2 incident optical power density. The best device has the exciton blocking layer and exhibits an open circuit voltage VOC = 0.43 V, a short circuit current density JSC = 2.35 mA/cm2 with a fill factor FF ≈ 50%, an external quantum efficiency (electrons/s over incident photons/s) EQE ≈ 5% and a power conversion efficiency of about 0.5%.

Block copolymers from ionic liquids for the preparation of thin carbonaceous shells

This paper describes the controlled radical polymerization of an ionic-liquid monomer by RAFT polymerization. This allows the control over the molecular weight of ionic liquid blocks in the range of 8000 and 22000 and of the block-copolymer synthesis. In this work we focus on block copolymers with an anchor block. They can be used to control the formation of TiO2 nanoparticles, which are functionalized thereafter with a block of ionic-liquid polymer. Pyrolysis of these polymer functionalized inorganic nanoparticles leads to TiO2 nanoparticles coated with a thin carbonaceous shell. Such materials may, e.g., be interesting as battery materials.

Celem pracy jest wykazanie aktualnych problemów prawnych w związku z ewolucją dystrybucji treści cyfrowych oraz próbą wskazania możliwych innych kierunków zmian w podejściu do sposobu zakupu treści cyfrowej wraz z upowszechnieniem się novum w postaci rozproszonego konsensusu. Ten ostatni spowodował rozpowszechnienie się technologii łańcucha bloków, która wedle koncepcji wizjonerów ma w przyszłości pozwolić na rozproszone usługi hostingowe połączone z nowym podejściem do dystrybucji treści cyfrowych bez nośnika – zarówno dla konsumentów, jak i autorów zdigitalizowanych dzieł.

A glassblock integrated with hybrid photovoltaic cells (also known as Dye-sensitized Solar Cell - DSC) and a dry-assembled panel made of traditional or DSC-integrated glassblocks are disclosed. OBJECTIVE: To assess the prevalence of good clinical response and remission in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with longstanding disease treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) drugs at outpatient clinics. METHODS: Retrospective national study of 14 academic tertiary referral rheumatology medical centers. RA patients with a Disease Activity Score (DAS28) > 3.2 were defined as having active disease and could start TNF-alpha blockers. All patients received one TNF-alpha blocker plus methotrexate (10-20 mg/wk).
