We show that any affine block design $$\mathcal{D}=(\mathcal{P},\mathcal{B})$$ is a subset of a suitable commutative group $${\mathfrak {G}}_\mathcal{D},$$ with the property that a k-subset of $$\mathcal{P}$$ is a block of $$\mathcal{D}$$ if and only if its k elements sum up to zero. As a consequence, the group of automorphisms of any affine design $$\mathcal{D}$$ is the group of automorphisms of $${\mathfrak {G}}_\mathcal{D}$$ that leave $$\mathcal P$$ invariant. Whenever k is a prime p,  $${\mathfrak {G}}_\mathcal{D}$$ is an elementary abelian p-group.

Background Allergic asthma is a T H 2-promoted hyperreactivity with an immediate, IgE, and mast cell–dependent response followed by eosinophil-dominated inflammation and airway obstruction. The thermal responsive behavior of adsorbed layers of diblock copolymers of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM) and poly((3-acrylamidopropyl)trimethylammonium chloride) (PAMPTMA(+)) with γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD) at the solid/liquid interface has been investigated using three in situ techniques: null ellipsometry, quartz–crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring, and neutron reflectometry. Correlated barrier hopping in NiO films

The ac conduction in NiO films has been investigated in the frequency range 10 Hz < v < 10^9 Hz and at temperatures between 10 and 300 K. The frequency and the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity can be consistently explained within a model developed for the mechanism of charge transfer in amorphous semiconductors which proposes that charge carriers hop over potential barriers between defect sites, the height of the barriers being correlated with the intersite separation.

Sympathetic blocks for visceral cancer pain management: A systematic review and EAPC recommendations.

The neurolytic blocks of sympathetic pathways, including celiac plexus block (CPB) and superior hypogastric plexus block (SHPB) , have been used for years. The aim of this review was to assess the evidence to support the performance of sympathetic blocks in cancer patients with abdominal visceral pain. Only comparison studies were included. All data from the eligible trials were analyzed using the GRADE system. Twenty-seven controlled studies were considered. NiO diluted in high surface area TiO2 as efficient catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane

[EN] Catalysts consisting of NiO diluted in high surface area TiO2 can be as efficient in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane as the most selective NiO-promoted catalysts reported previously in the literature. By selecting the titania matrix and the NiO loading, yields to ethylene over 40% have been obtained. In the present article, three different titanium oxides (TiO2) have been employed as supports or diluters of nickel oxide and have been tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene.
