Enthalpies of formation of isoprene’s major oxidation byproducts

2005

Abstract The theoretical enthalpies of formation ( Δ f H 298 . 15 ∘ ) of methyl vinyl ketone (MVK, CH 2 CHC(O)CH 3 ), methacrolein (MACR, CH 2 C(CH 3 )CHO), and the radical products formed in their corresponding OH radical oxidations have been calculated with DFT (MPW1K/6-31+G(d,p)) and multilevel (MCCM-UT-CCSD(T)//MPW1K/6-31+G(d,p)) methods. The bond dissociation energies ( BDE , DH 298 . 15 0 ) of the H-atoms that can be abstracted from the MVK and MACR molecules, and the C–O forming bonds of the OH addition products are also calculated. The regioselectivity of the global reaction is discussed in terms of bond strength.

The effect of silver nanoparticles, zinc oxide nanoparticles, and titanium dioxide nanoparticles on the push-out bond strength of fiber posts

2019

Background This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of intraradicular dentin pretreatment with silver nanoparticles (SNPs), zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZNPs), and titanium oxide nanoparticles (TNPs) on the push-out bond strength (PBS) of fiber posts to root dentin using two types of resin cements. Material and methods Eighty single-rooted human premolar roots were randomly divided into eight groups after endodontic treatment and post space preparation, according to the type of intraradicular dentin pretreatment with different nanoparticle solutions (n=20). The groups included no pretreatment (control) and pretreatments with SNPs, ZNPs, and TNPs. Each group was divided into 2 subgro…

Immediate and long-term microshear bond strength of resin-based cements to core build-up materials

2021

Background To evaluate the microshear bond strength (μ-SBS) between resin-based cements and core build-up materials after water storage. Material and methods Cylinders (1x1 mm) of conventional dual-cure resin cement (RelyX ARC, 3M ESPE), universal dual-cure resin cement (RelyX Ultimate, 3M ESPE) or self-adhesive resin cement (RelyX U200, 3M ESPE) were adhered to disks (6x2 mm) made with commercial core build-up materials (Bis-Core, Bisco or LuxaCore Z, DMG) or conventional nanocomposite resin (Filtek Z350 XT, 3M ESPE). The specimens (n=10) were submitted to μ-SBS test using a universal testing machine and fracture pattern analysis at 48 hours or after 9 months of water storage. The data wer…

The Micro-Shear bond strength of different cements to commercially pure titanium

2019

Background The most appropriate luting agent for attaching the prefabricated Ti-based insert of hybrid abutments to its ceramic component has not yet been determined. This study was done aimed at examining the micro-shear bond strength (μSBS) of different cements to commercially pure titanium (Cp Ti). Material and Methods A total of 100 milled cubes of Cp Ti was airborne-particle abraded using 250 μm aluminum oxide particles. Specimens were then divided into 5 groups (n=20) according to the type of resin cement used: (1) Panavia F.2, (2) Rely X U200, (3) Panavia SA LUTING Plus, (4) GC Fuji I, and (5) GC FujiCEM 2. After 24h storage, half of the samples were subjected to 5000 cycles of therm…

Shear bond strength of debonded ceramic restorations re-cemented by means of a cleaning and retreatment protocol

2019

Background As there is no standard method for re-cementing debonded partial ceramic restorations, the aim of this study was to evaluate the use of a non-invasive thermal protocol for cleaning and retreatment, and to study its influence on shear bond strength. Material and methods Twenty ceramic samples (IPS e.max CAD®) were bonded to composite cement cylinders and underwent a shear bond strength test (G1, n=20). A second group was created (G2, n=20), representing debonded restorations. To simulate debonding, the samples were artificially contaminated with composite cement. After debonding, these underwent a thermal protocol to remove remaining adhesive. After rebonding to the composite ceme…

Bond strength according to the moment of fiber post cutting fixed with self-adhesive cement to the root dentin

2021

Background The fiber posts require a cut in the coronal portion to adjust it to the available clinical space. The cutting of posts cemented may generate tension via bur vibrations of drill on the bonding interface, with the possibility of decreasing the bond strength. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate if the moment of cutting the fiber posts has an effect on its bond strength when fixed with self-adhesive resin cement. Material and methods Thirty-six bovine teeth were randomly divided into three groups after endodontic treatment and post space preparation (n = 12): IAC- the fiber posts were cutting immediately after cementation; ACR - the fiber posts were cutting after coronal reconstructi…

The effects of lasers on bond strength to ceramic materials: A systematic review and meta-analysis

2018

Lasers have recently been introduced as an alternative means of conditioning dental ceramic surfaces in order to enhance their adhesive strength to cements and other materials. The present systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to review and quantitatively analyze the available literature in order to determine which bond protocols and laser types are the most effective. A search was conducted in the Pubmed, Embase and Scopus databases for papers published up to April 2017. PRISMA guidelines for systematic review and meta-analysis were followed. Fifty-two papers were eligible for inclusion in the review. Twenty-five studies were synthesized quantitatively. Lasers were found to increase bo…

Bond strength of selected composite resin-cements to zirconium-oxide ceramic

2012

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate bond strengths of zirconium-oxide (zirconia) ceramic and a selection of different composite resin cements. Study Design: 130 Lava TM cylinders were fabricated. The cylinders were sandblasted with 80 μm aluminium oxide or silica coated with CoJet Sand. Silane, and bonding agent and/or Clearfil Ceramic Primer were applied. One hundred thirty composite cement cylinders, comprising two dual-polymerizing (Variolink II and Panavia F) and two autopolymerizing (Rely X and Multilink) resins were bonded to the ceramic samples. A shear test was conducted, followed by an optical microscopy study to identify the location and type of failure, an elec…

In vitro experimental study of bonding between aluminium oxide ceramics and resin cements

2010

To evaluate bond strengths of different resin cements to two aluminum oxide-based ceramics. Methods: One hundred ten ceramic cylinders were produced and given four different surface treatments. Resin cement cylinders were then bonded to the ceramic cylinders using different resin cements and the bond strength was determined by shear testing to the breaking point. We were thus able to obtain results for the different combinations of porcelain, surface treatments and cements. All data was analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test for more than two independent samples and the Bonferroni correction applied (a=0.01). An optical microscopy study was carried out to analyze the type of failure, and an…

Bond strength of lithium disilicate after cleaning methods of the remaining hydrofluoric acid

2020

Background Complex implant treatments have steadily increased within implant prosthodontics. Based on the lower implant mobility, implant impressions need high accuracy in the model transfer to receive a high passive fit within the final prosthodontic restoration. To analyze the accurate 3-dimensional (3D) inter-implant-positions, a reference point is indispensable. However, there is no reference in the patients mouth, so the aim of the present study was to develop a new method based on a custom-made-measuring-aid (CMA) to assess the inter implant dimensions (InID) in patients. Material and Methods Initially an implant master model (IMM/patient equivalent) was digitized by computed tomograp…
