Abstract The crystal and molecular structure of [Cu(tzpy) 2 (ONO 2 ) 2 (OH 2 )] (tzpy=3-methyl[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5- a ]pyridine) has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The crystal structure is built up of discrete [Cu(tzpy) 2 (ONO 2 ) 2 (OH 2 )] entities linked through hydrogen bonds. The coordination geometry around the copper atom can be described as an elongated and strongly distorted octahedron displaying a 4+1+1* coordination mode (CuN 2 O 2 O′O″ chromophore), with one of the nitrato groups acting as bidentate and involved in a weak off-the- z -axis coordination. Spectroscopic properties are interpreted on the basis of the above stereochemistry.

The paper reports on four novel solid-state architectures constructed by using tectons having the general formula: [Cr(AA)(C2O4)2]- [AA = 2,2‘-bipyridine (bipy) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen)]. These building blocks are involved in various intermolecular interactions: coordinative, hydrogen bonds, and π−π contacts. Two new crystallohydrates in the Ba[Cr(AA)(C2O4)2]2·nH2O family have been characterized: [BaCr2(bipy)2(C2O4)4(H2O)2]·4H2O (1) and [BaCr2(phen)2(C2O4)4(H2O)2] (2). The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic P2(1)/c space group with a = 11.2470(3) A, b = 5.9034(2) A, c = 12.0886(3) A, β = 115.143(1)°, and V = 726.58(4) A(3) and consists of discrete monomeric NiCl(2)(o-phenylendiamine)(2) molecules. Each o-phen ligand coordinates in a bidentate mode with the chloride ions occupying trans positions in the resulting tetragonally distorted octahedral coordination sphere. Exploiting 1,4-naphthoquinone and 3-iodo-1,4-naphthoquinone motifs as anion binding sites by hydrogen or halogen-bonding interactions

We describe here the utilization of 1,4-naphthoquinone and 3-iodo-1,4-naphthoquinone motifs as new anion binding sites by hydrogen- or halogen-bonding interactions, respectively. These binding sites have been integrated in bidentate ester based receptors. Emission experiments reveal that both receptors selectively recognize sulfate anions, which induced a remarkable increase of a new emission band attributed to the formation of π-stacking interactions between two 1,4-naphthoquinone units. Abstract Two new methylmalonate-bridged copper(II) complexes with the formulas [Cu(3-Ipy)(Memal)(H 2 O)] ( 1 ) and [Cu(2,4′-bpy)(Memal)(H 2 O)] · 3H 2 O ( 2 ) [Memal = methylmalonate dianion, 3-Ipy = 3-iodopyridine, 2,4′-bpy = 2,4′-bipyridine] have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction. Abstract The 2-amino-5-benzylmercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (C9H9N3S2) is a low weight model of a protonated copolymer resin used as a metal uptake agent. New monomeric crystalline metal complexes of C9H9N3S2 with Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Hg(II) were synthesized and investigated in order to facilitate the interpretation of the metal/resin binding mode. These materials have been studied by single crystal X-ray Diffraction and FTIR Spectroscopy at room temperature. Crystal data for these triclinic phases are reported.
