Role of radiology in central hemangioma of jaws

Central hemangioma, a bone destructive lesion, is a benign tumor. Hemangiomas of jaws are rare entity and produ- ces many different radiographic images. Radiographic differential diagnosis includes osteosarcoma, fibrous dysplasia, central giant cell granuloma, ameloblastoma, odontogenic myxoma, multiple myeloma, dentigerous cyst and aneurysmal bone cyst. Since it involves proliferation of blood vessels so aspiration or biopsy of such lesions can lead to severe hemorrhage which can turn out to be lethal. Abstract Objective We present s a case of aneurysmal bone cyst, unusual and rare, both for its location and its initial clinical and radiographic presentation. Case report A girl of 13 years consulting for atraumatic pain in the outer edge of right foot, with a normal initial X-ray and then one month later presented with a subperiosteal tumour lesion in the fifth metatarsal shaft, which was definitively diagnosed as an aneurysmal bone cyst, Campanacci type IV. Background Simple bone cysts (SBC) are intraosseous cysts devoid of an epithelial lining, asymptomatic and appearing in the jaw. In general, SBCs are discovered incidentally and tooth displacement or pathological fractures are very unusual. Material and methods This study reports a 16 years old man that presented an asymtomatic radiolucent unilocular lesion in the right ascending ramus. Differencial diagnosis included odontogenic keratocyst and dentigerous cyst. One surgical intervention was performed and consisted in the curettage of the bone walls. Background The aim of this study was to describe the relative frequency and the main demographic and clinic-radiographic features related to patients diagnosed with Simple bone cyst (SBC) in an Oral Diagnosis Service in Southeast Brazil and present a review and discussion of international literature on this topic. Material and Methods SBC cases from our service encompassing the period between 1978 and 2017 were selected. In addition, a literature search was performed in the Pubmed/MEDLINE online electronic database published between 1951 and 2019.
