Power Maximization of a PV-Wind HRES via DC-link Voltage Boosting

This paper describes a method for the optimization of a Hybrid Renewable Energy System applied to a low power Photovoltaic-Wind plant. This approach exploits the DC link with a voltage higher than the correspondent value of the batteries, thanks to a suitable DC/DC converter. The goodness of the methodology is firstly proved by means of a novel graphical technique and then verified through numerical simulations. The results are discussed and show that, adopting the proposed technique, a significant increase of the generated power and of the annual energy produced can be achieved.

Background: Research shows that in most people, two-dose vaccination helps to shape the humoral response to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Further studies are required to learn about the vaccine’s effectiveness after boosting. Methods: We conducted a prospective study among 103 healthcare workers (HCWs) from a regional multi-specialty hospital vaccinated with three doses of the BNT162b2 vaccine. A powerful hydrodynamic booster for relativistic jets

Velocities close to the speed of light are a robust observational property of the jets observed in microquasars and AGNs, and are expected to be behind much of the phenomenology of GRBs. Yet, the mechanism boosting relativistic jets to such large Lorentz factors is still essentially unknown. Building on recent general-relativistic, multidimensional simulations of progenitors of short GRBs, we discuss a new effect in relativistic hydrodynamics which can act as an efficient booster in jets. A Temperature Dependent Non-Linear Inductor Model for a DC/DC Boost Converter

2018

This paper is focused on the use of non-linear inductors in DC/DC switching converters, as well as their behaviour due to changes in current and temperature. The model of an inductor is set up on the basis of experimental data, which are automatically acquired by a virtual instrument; from those data, a polynomial curve describing the inductance variations is obtained. The analysis of the converter, performed by including the proposed model, is validated by experimental tests.

A Comparative Study on Feature Selection for Retinal Vessel Segmentation Using FABC

This paper presents a comparative study on five feature selection heuristics applied to a retinal image database called DRIVE. Features are chosen from a feature vector (encoding local information, but as well information from structures and shapes available in the image) constructed for each pixel in the field of view (FOV) of the image. After selecting the most discriminatory features, an AdaBoost classifier is applied for training. The results of classifications are used to compare the effectiveness of the five feature selection methods.

Autonomous biofeedback tools in support of rehabilitation patients are commonly built as multi-tier pipelines, where a segmentation algorithm is first responsible for isolating motion primitives, and then classification can be performed on each primitive.
