The article explores women’s economic agency in the “border economies” of Mediterranean ports and islands, focusing on the case of Stromboli, in the Sicilian Aeolian Archipelago, in the first half of the nineteenth century. The position of women in the public and the private sphere and the lack of relevant contemporary socio-professional categories makes it difficult to identify their activities, although they are crucial to the understanding of coastal societies. The paper stresses the importance of women’s full involvement in the typical pluriactivity of such communities, combining trade with agriculture and seafaring. La «Saga di Eirik il Rosso» («Eiríks saga rauða») appartiene al gruppo delle “Family Sagas” ("Íslendinga sögur") dell’antica letteratura islandese. Authoress of the article analyses personal identity on an ethnic borderland. Personal identity among other things is an ability to answer following questions: „Who am I, Where am I from?”. Borderland is multiethnic, multicultural and multilanguage area, where defining an unit is especially difficult in the period of nationalistic conflicts. Authoress is considering personal identity on example of Óndra Łysohorsky – Czech regional poet of Silesia, who in the thirties of 20th century was declaring controversial opinion about existence of Lachian nation speaking Lachian language.
