Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic brought many changes to social behaviours in Europe. One of its major consequences was the temporary closure of borders, which was introduced as a measure to prevent the uncontrolled pandemic spreading and involved internal Schengen borders. This has had a major impact in the way in which cross-border cooperation has been conducted in Europe, including the Czech-Polish borderland, as it dramatically restrained all flows across borders. This article seeks to analyse the process of conflictual rebordering in the EU’s relations with Russia. The authors single out three major crises that triggered and shaped the process of toughening the border regime and the related transformations of political meaning of the EU-Russia border: the COVID-19 pandemic, the drastic deterioration of Moscow-Brussels relations in the beginning of 2021 and the war in Ukraine that started on 24 February 2022. New re-bordering left them alone and neglected: Czech cross-border commuters in German-Czech borderland

The article focuses on the impact of the new re-bordering, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, on the functional, ideational and institutional dimension of cross-border integration, as perceived by the Czech cross-border commuters employed on the German side of the Euroregion Elbe Labe. The interviews with forty cross-commuters showed that they were left alone in these times of re-bordering and became victims of non-coordination between Czechia and Germany. Od lat 90. XX wieku obserwujemy istotny wzrost zainteresowania kwestią korupcji. To również czas ponownego odkrycia problemu granic i pogranicza jako zagadnień centralnych dla procesów towarzyszących człowiekowi pod koniec stulecia. Globalizacja, kolejna fala demokratyzacji oraz upadek ZSRR to zmiany, który stworzyły nowe, strukturalne warunki dla zjawisk korupcyjnych oraz dla przedefiniowania granic politycznych.
