<p style="text-align: justify;">The development of hardwood cutting of grapevine comprise 4 succesive phases. Phase I: first period of shoot extension. Phase II: characterized by a slow growth due to a very low activity of the terminal bud. Phase III: reactivation of the growth consecutive to a resumption of the apical activity. Fungal biodiversity and in situ conservation in Italy

A remarkable increase in knowledge of fungal biodiversity in Italy has occurred in the last five years. The authors report up-to-date numbers of fungi (Basidiomycota and Ascomycota) by regions together with distributional and ecological data on hypogeous fungi. Specific case studies such as alpine fungi, orchid mycorrhizas symbionts, invasive species, and the use of macrofungi as food by red squirrels are analyzed. In situ conservation strategies carried out on target species and/or taxonomic groups are also indicated.
Influence of citrates nanoparticles on morphological traits of bacterial cells pseudomonas syringae pv. atrofaciens

Electron microscope investigations have revealed disintegration of the cell wall of Pseudomonas syringae pv. atrofaciens and subsequent killing of bacterial cells after application of 1% solutions of the citrates of Ag-Cu nanoparticles, the complex Co-Cu-Zn-Fe-Mn-Mo-Mg (Avatar-1) and iodine-selenium. In field conditions, it was revealed that pre-sowing treatment of wheat seeds with the aforementioned 1% solutions significantly inhibited the development of basal glume rot in cereals with artificial infection of Pseudomonas syringae рv. аtrofaciens. Identification of phytopathogenic bacteria in maize seeds in Ukraine

The main bacterial diseases of maize: bacterial wilt of maize (Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii), goss’s bacterial wilt (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. nebraskensis), seed rot-seedling blight of maize (Bacillus subtilis), bacterial spot of maize (Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae), bacterial leaf spot of maize (Pantoea agglomerans) and bacterial stalk rot of maize caused by several causative agents, were described. The causative agents of these diseases are often stored and transmitted with seeds, so seed analysis for the presence of phytopathogenic bacteria is an important step in the pathogen control system. Essential oil from the aerial parts of Centaurea cuneifolia Sibth. & Sm. and C. euxina Velen., two species growing wild in Bulgaria

Abstract The volatile constituents of the aerial parts of Centaurea cuneifolia Sibth. & Sm. and Centaurea euxina Velen. from Bulgaria were extracted by hydrodistillation and were analyzed. The main components in C. cuneifolia were β-eudesmol (26.5%) and hexadecanoic acid (17.6%). The main components in C. euxina were hexadecanoic acid (20.3%), spathulenol (10.8%) and caryophyllene oxide (6.2%). The chemotaxonomic significances with respect to other previously studied species of the same sections ( Achrolopus and Phalolepis , respectively) are discussed.
Molecular Signatures of Biogeochemical Transformations in Dissolved Organic Matter from Ten World Rivers

Rivers carry large amounts of dissolved organic matter (DOM) to the oceans thereby connecting terrestrial and marine element cycles. Photo-degradation in conjunction with microbial turnover is considered a major pathway by which terrigenous DOM is decomposed. To reveal globally relevant patterns behind this process, we performed photo-degradation experiments and year-long bio-assays on DOM from ten of the largest world rivers that collectively account for more than one-third of the fresh water discharge to the global ocean.
