Phytotoponymy and Synphytotoponymy in Western Granada Province (Andalusia, Spain)
2009

2018
This article aims to increase understanding of the global-local contexts in football by exploring the changing field of professional football stadiums in Finland and Hungary in the 2000s. More specifically, the cases of two clubs, HJK (Finland) and Ferencvárosi TC (Hungary) are studied. We employ concepts of sport and globalization. The research data consist of semi-structured expert interviews with Finnish and Hungarian football practitioners, media and club documents, and data from observation. The results suggest that interactions of global and local forces are reflected in the development and operation of stadiums. On the one hand, international and national governing bodies have streng…
Ethnography and ancient history
2012
Romanticism is the starting point of modern scientific historiography in the field of Greek ethnography. Muller, steeped in the intellectual climate of his time, wrote of the “spiritual nature of a people,” in reference to the Dorians, and attempted an approach to the literary sources that in certain respects foreshadowed the positivist school. Keywords: cultural history; ethnicity; exploration; race and ethnicity

Pre-paradigmatic Status of Social Entrepreneurship Research: A Systematic Literature Review
2013
Abstract Social entrepreneurship (SE) research has been presented in the literature as a field of action in a pre-paradigmatic state, a field that lacks an established epistemology. Despite that impediment, several qualitative and quantitative studies have already been undertaken on the sole base of some institutions’ worldview and without previous solidification of theory. Consequently, critics and social constructivists have found much ambivalence in these and owing to the resulting mess, even question SE's legitimization as a distinctive item of research. Articles on the topic of SE make use of a variety of frameworks, borrowing from neo-institutional or dialectic theory, bringing with t…

Instead of an Editorial: Mission Statements by Representatives of Both Fields
2012
The following mission statements by linguists and literary scholars working in different institutional and cultural contexts and at different stages of their careers are intended to map out the terrain covered by this journal. They tell similar stories about how these scholars came to cross the disciplinary boundary that too often divides their two fields, and they reveal a number of shared interests and emphases. But they also highlight the diversity of methodologies to which this journal is open – from metrics and stylistics to the cognitive sciences and Systemic Functional Grammar. The hopes and expectations voiced by the authors are partly pragmatic, expressing the wish that the journal…
In Revision: Theoretical Frameworks
2018
A central ambition in the first section is to establish an understanding of the music industries—the field of study—as well as change—the different dynamics within and around the music industries. I consider the latter understanding to be dependent on the former—that if we don’t have a proper concept of the field of study, then it becomes difficult to define and assess the changes happening to it. The music industries have indeed been impacted by digital change and innovation. It has become a reference point for the difficulties some industries have faced, adapting to a new digital economy. However, many of the accounts on the music industries’ difficult digital transitions tend to diminish…
“Diagnosing” the Need or in “Need” of a Diagnosis? Reconceptualizing Educational Need
2017
This chapter is based on compulsory school experiences of students diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and their parents in the educational context of Finland. Located in the theoretical framework of Disability Studies, the chapter aims to contribute to theory of inclusive education by initiating a new dialogue on conceptual foundations of inclusive schooling. In this regard, the chapter first deconstructs the concept of educational need that stems from the field of traditional special education as contradictory to the original ideals of inclusive education. It then moves on to reconstruct the concept of educational need in accordance with the foundational values …
La relación con los animales: un nuevo ámbito de la intervención socioeducativa
2014
This article analyses the educational approaches towards the animal-human relationship which have been developed during the last 20 years. The article establishes a chain of states in that relationship and presents the reasons why those states are consecutive or, occasionally, simultaneous. Next, the different European profiles of social educators are reviewed to see which of these are more open towards educational action with animals, something which could be considered a new field for educators if they have adequate professional training. A series of European (and some American) websites are analysed in order to determine their approach towards the human-animal relationship. Although most…
