A search for diffuse absorption bands in carbon-rich stars -- I. Barium and related stars

2003

The results of a search for interstellar and circumstellar absorption lines in high-resolution optical spectra of seven late-type stars are presented. All these stars are single-lined spectroscopic binaries with unseen companions, presumably white dwarfs. Some residual material indicative of recent mass transfer from an asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star might still be associated with the systems. Peculiar energy distribution and the sodium D 1 and D 2 lines give direct evidence about the material in the line of sight in some cases. Absorption features of simple carbon-bearing molecules (C 2 , CN) have been detected in most of the examined stars, confirming a carbon-rich nature of the corre…

Study of annihilation at rest into ωηπ0

1994

Abstract We have studied p p annihilations at rest in liquid hydrogen into the final state ωηπ 0 where ω decays to π 0 γ . This reaction is dominated by the production of α 0 (980) and contributions from a 2 (1320) and b 1 0 (1235). Upper limits for the production of an axial vector h ′ 1 (1380) meson and vector mesons ω(1390), ω(1600), and φ(1680) decaying to ωη are given. The branching ratio of p p annihilation into ωηπ 0 was determined to be (0.68±0.01±0.05)%.

Measurement of the branching ratio and search for a CP violating asymmetry in the η→π+π−e+e−(γ) decay at KLOE

2009

Abstract We have studied the η → π + π − e + e − ( γ ) decay using about 1.7 fb − 1 collected by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ -factory. This corresponds to about 72 millions η mesons produced in ϕ radiative decays. We have measured the branching ratio, inclusive of radiative effects, with 4% accuracy: BR ( η → π + π − e + e − ( γ ) ) = ( 26.8 ± 0.9 Stat . ± 0.7 Syst . ) × 10 − 5 . We have obtained the first measurement of the CP-odd ππ – ee decay planes angular asymmetry, A ϕ = ( − 0.6 ± 2.5 Stat . ± 1.8 Syst . ) × 10 − 2 .

A reanalysis of branching fractions of charmed mesonsD 0,D + andD s +

1992

We combine highly complementary information on branching fractions of charmed mesonsD0,D+ andDs+ coming from two experiments both yielding doublecharm samples. The NA 32 experiment provided exclusive branching fractions for channels with at least two charged decay products while a recent Mark III paper provides results on inclusive charm decay properties. The knowledge of channels withK0's in the former is used to recalculate the charged multiplicity distribution in the latter. We obtain 〈nch〉=2.25±0.08 forD0, 〈nch〉=1.96±0.08 forD+ and 〈nch〉=2.41±0.38 forDs+. In turn the knowledge of the charged multiplicity improves the overall normalization of exclusive branching fractions. This reanalysi…

Measurements of the decaysB0→D¯0pp¯,B0→D¯*0pp¯,B0→D−pp¯π+, andB0→D*−pp¯π+

2006

We present measurements of branching fractions of $B^0$ decays to multi-body final states containing protons, based on 232 million $\Upsilon(4S)\to B\bar{B}$ decays collected with the BaBar detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy $B$ factory. We measure the branching fractions ${\cal B}(B^0 \to \bar{D}^0\proton\antiproton)=(1.13\pm0.06\pm0.08)\times 10^{-4}$, ${\cal B}(B^0 \to \bar{D}^{*0}\proton\antiproton)=(1.01\pm0.10\pm0.09)\times 10^{-4}$, ${\cal B}(B^0 \to D^{-}\proton\antiproton\pi^+)=(3.38\pm0.14\pm0.29)\times 10^{-4}$, and ${\cal B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}\proton\antiproton\pi^+)=(4.81\pm0.22\pm0.44)\times 10^{-4}$ where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. We pre…

Molecular Parameters of Hyperbranched Copolymers Obtained by Self-Condensing Vinyl Copolymerization, 2. Non-Equal Rate Constants

2001

The kinetics, molecular weight averages, and the average degree of branching, DB, are calculated for the self-condensing vinyl copolymerization (SCVCP) of a vinyl monomer M with an "inimer" AB* in the case of different reactivities of active species. Emphasis is given to two limiting cases: formation of "macroinimers" occurs if the monomer M is more reactive than the vinyl groups of inimers or polymer, and "hyperstars" are formed in the opposite case. It is shown that the kinetics, the molecular weight averages, and the average degree of branching strongly depend on the relative reactivities of monomer and inimer. Comparison with experimental data shows that consistent fits of the reactivit…

Search for the decayB+→K¯*0(892)K+

2007

We report on a search for the process B+ -> (K) over bar*(0)(892)K+ using 232 X 10(6) Y(4S) -> B (B) over bar B decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. From a signal yield of 25 +/- 13[stat] +/- 7[syst] B+ -> (K) over bar*(0)(892)(-> K-pi(+))K+ events, we place an upper limit on the branching fraction B(B+ -> (K) over bar*(0)(892)K+) of 1.1 X 10(-6), at the 90% confidence level.
