Taxonomic remarks on Isatis tinctoria (Brassicaceae) from Pollino National Park (Basilicata, Italy)

Isatis L. (Brassicaceae) is an Eurasian genus including 79 species (1). It is one of the most difficult cruciferous genera (2). Some species, in fact, are highly polymorphic in fruit morphology, the structures that provide the most diagnostic characters (3). In addition, due to the extreme variability in all morphological characters, the limits of many species are uncertain (4). Most if not all diagnostic characters used in earlier classifications are very variable and because of the unreliability of vegetative and floral characters it is difficult or impossible to identify many specimens when mature fruits are missing (5). Sterol Composition in Infant Formulas and Estimated Intake.

Sterol contents in infant formulas (IFs) from the European market were determined, and their intakes by infants between 0 and 6 months were evaluated. Total animal sterols (mg/100 mL) ranged from 1.71 to 5.46, cholesterol being the main animal sterol (1.46-5.1). In general, cholesterol and desmosterol were lower than the human milk (HM) values indicated by other authors. Total plant sterol (mg/100 mL) ranged from 3.1 to 5.0. β-Sitosterol, the most abundant phytosterol, ranged from 1.82 to 3.01, followed by campesterol (0.72-1.15), stigmasterol (0.27-0.53), and brassicasterol (0.14-0.28). Abstract Three new species are described in Biscutella sect. Biscutella from the central-eastern mountains of the Iberian Peninsula B. bilbilitana Mateo & M.B. Crespo, B. segurae Mateo & M.B. Crespo, and B. conquensis Mateo & M.B. Crespo. They are characterized morphologically, ecologically and chorologically. Data separating them from B. valentina (L.) Heywood, a taxon to which they sometimes have been referred, are also reported.

An ecofriendly extraction technology using infrared (IR) irradiation Ired-Irrad® was applied to purple corn cobs to enhance polyphenol recovery for the first time. The IR extraction efficiency was compared to that of the water bath (WB) method. Response surface methodology (RSM) using a central composite design was conducted to determine the effect of the experimental conditions (extraction time and treatment temperature) and their interactions on the total polyphenol and anthocyanin yields. The present study describes the fluorescence emission properties of recombinant water-soluble chlorophyll (Chl) protein (WSCP) complexes reconstituted with either Chl a or Chl b alone (Chl a only or Chl b only WSCP, respectively) or mixtures of both pigments at different stoichiometrical ratios. Effect of water content and temperature on seed longevity of seven Brassicaceae species after 5 years of storage.

Maximising seed longevity is crucial for genetic resource preservation and longevity of orthodox seeds is determined by environmental conditions (water content and temperature). The effect of water content (down to 0.01 g·H₂O·g(-1) ) on seed viability was studied at different temperatures for a 5-year storage period in taxonomically related species.
