Low-Latency Infrastructure-Based Cellular V2V Communications for Multi-Operator Environments With Regional Split

2021

Mobile network operators are interested in providing Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication services using their cellular infrastructure. Regional split of operators is one possible approach to support multi-operator infrastructure-based cellular V2V communication. In this approach, a geographical area is divided into non-overlapping regions, each one served by a unique operator. Its main drawback is the communication interruption motivated by the inter-operator handover in border areas, which prevents the fulfillment of the maximum end-to-end (E2E) latency requirements of fifth generation (5G) V2V services related to autonomous driving. In this work, we enable a fast inter-operator handove…

On the Provisioning of Mobile Digital Terrestrial TV Services to Vehicles With DVB-T

2012

[EN] Most of the DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting -Terrestrial) networks deployments worldwide have been designed for fixed rooftop antennas and high transmission capacity, not providing good coverage level for vehicular mobile reception. This letter analyzes how to combine different technical solutions, so far studied individually, in order to increase the robustness of the transmission for vehicular reception to provide in-band mobile services. In particular, we consider: receive antenna diversity, hierarchical modulation, and Application Layer Forward Error Correction (AL-FEC). Performance evaluation results have been obtained by means of simulations, laboratory tests, and field measure…

Soft proton exchanged channel waveguides in congruent lithium tantalate for frequency doubling

2010

We report on stable optical waveguides fabricated by soft-proton exchange in periodically-poled congruent lithium tantalate in the a-phase. The channel waveguides are characterized in the telecom wavelength range in terms of both linear properties and frequency doubling. The measurements yield a nonlinear coefficient of about 9.5pm/V, demonstrating that the nonlinear optical properties of lithium tantalate are left nearly unaltered by the process. A Novel Multi-hop Broadcasting Method for VANETs Based on Autonomic Computing Paradigm

2014

One of the three best papers, Selected for the Annals of Telecommunications journal; International audience; Broadcasting is widely used in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) but it is hard to achieve efficiently since it depends on the network density, i.e. may cause network congestion if the protocols are not well designed. This paper introduces a novel Autonomic Dissemination Method (ADM) which delivers messages in accordance with given priority and density levels. The proposed approach is based on two steps: an offline optimization process and an online adaptation to the network characteristics. The aim is to make effective use of radio resources when there are many messages to send imu…

Coll Positioning systems: a two-dimensional approach

2006

The basic elements of Coll positioning systems (n clocks broadcasting electromagnetic signals in a n-dimensional space-time) are presented in the two-dimensional case. This simplified approach allows us to explain and to analyze the properties and interest of these relativistic positioning systems. The positioning system defined in flat metric by two geodesic clocks is analyzed. The interest of the Coll systems in gravimetry is pointed out.

Hidden Oscillations in Electromechanical Systems

2016

In this paper an electromechanical system with two different types of motor is considered. It is shown that during the spin-up, the system with DC motor may experience unwanted vibration—the Sommerfeld effect. This is a well-known effect when the motor of electromechanical system gets stuck near the resonance zone instead of reaching its nominal power. The absence of this effect is demonstrated in the system with synchronous motor. Nowadays, there are many works devoted to the study of this effect in various systems. Here we discuss the Sommerfeld effect from the point of view of localization of the so-called hidden oscillations.

An evaluation of exposure metrics in an epidemiologic study on radio and television broadcast transmitters and the risk of childhood leukemia.

2009

Electric field strength values calculated by wave propagation modeling were applied as an exposure metric in a case–control study conducted in Germany to investigate a possible association between radio frequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) emitted from television and radio broadcast transmitters and the risk of childhood leukemia. To validate this approach it was examined at 850 measurement sites whether calculated RF-EMF are an improvement to an exposure proxy based on distance from the place of residence to a transmitter. Further, the agreement between measured and calculated RF-EMF was explored. For dichotomization at the 90% quantiles of the exposure distributions it was found that…

El discurso pseudopolítico de la segunda pantalla. #ElDebateEnRTVE visto a través de sus prosumers

2020

Introduction: Our object of analysis is the conversation held on Twitter in one of the election debates in the campaign in the Spanish General Elections of April 28th, 2019; precisely, the one that took place on April 22 on the public broadcasting corporation Radiotelevision Espanola among the leaders of the four main political parties: the ruling Socialists, the conservative People’s Party (PP), the centre-right Ciudadanos and the left-wing Unidas-Podemos. Methodology: The methodology used in the work is the Pragmatic Discourse Analysis, and quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques are used. The data was coded and analyzed with Atlas.ti software. For the analysis, a total of 1000 t…
