Determination of -Ascorbic Acid in Lycopersicon Fruits by Capillary Zone Electrophoresis
2001
This study shows an improved method for the determination of L-ascorbic acid (l-AA) in fruits of Lycopersicon by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE). Two backgrounds electrolytes (BGEs) have been tested: (i) 400 mM borate at pH 8.0 and 1 x 10(-2)% hexadimethrine bromide, for the separation of Eulycopersicon subgenus species; and (ii) as in BGE(i) but supplemented with 20% (v/v) acetonitrile, for the separation of species of the Eriopersicon subgenus. The present procedures were compared with two routine methods-enzymatic assay and potentiometric titration with 2,6-dichlorophenol-indophenol. While these routine methods presented some difficulties in quantifying l-AA in several Lycopersicon …
Enhanced nanoscopy of individual CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals using dielectric sub-micrometric antennas
2020
We demonstrate an efficient, simple, and low-cost approach for enhanced nanoscopy in individual green emitting perovskite (CsPbBr3) nanocrystals via TiO2 dielectric nanoantenna. The observed three- to five-fold emission enhancement is attributed to near-field effects and emission steering promoted by the coupling between the perovskite nanocrystals and the dielectric sub-micrometric antennas. The dark-field scattering configuration is then exploited for surface-enhanced absorption measurements, showing a large increase in detection sensitivity, leading to the detection of individual nanocrystals. Due to the broadband spectral response of the Mie sub-micrometric antennas, the method can be e…

A Colorimetric Membrane-Based Sensor with Improved Selectivity towards Amphetamine
2021
Due to their simplicity, speed and low cost, chemical spot tests are increasingly demanded for the presumptive identification of illicit drugs in a variety of contexts such as point-of-care assistance or prosecution of drug trafficking. However, most of the colorimetric reactions used in these tests are, at best, drug class selective. Therefore, the development of tests based on chemical reactions with improved discrimination power is of great interest. In this work, we propose a new colorimetric assay for amphetamine (AMP) based on its reaction with solutions of alkaline gold bromide to form an insoluble yellow–orange derivative. The resulting suspensions are then filtered onto nylon membr…
Thermogalvanic effects on the corrosion of copper in heavy brine LiBr solutions
2012
Thermogalvanic corrosion of copper in heavy brine LiBr solutions has been investigated using a zero-resistance ammeter (ZRA). The temperature gradients between copper electrodes immersed in the same LiBr solution result in the formation of thermogalvanic cells with hot anodes, leading to high and sustained thermogalvanic currents. Copper loss rates, calculated using Faraday's law, substantially exceed 0.025mmyear -1, a value regarded as the threshold of low corrosion rates. The effects of thermogalvanic coupling on the surface properties of the anode and the cathode have been analysed by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results obtained in this analysis have been r…
PHOSPHORORGANISCHE VERBINDUNGEN 1121REAKTIVITÄT UND SELEKTIVITÄT VON VINYLPHOSPHONIUMSALZEN UND VINYLPHOSPHINOXIDEN GEGENÜBER NUCLEOPHILEN
1984
Abstract As a result of competition reactions triphenylvinylphosphonium bromide 1 is SH-selective. But the reactivity is significantly reduced in comparison to the vinyl sulfones. The elimination reaction (b) is also slowed down compared with the cleavage of the corresponding sulfones. In diphenylvinylphosphine oxide 2 the SH-selectivity is preserved. The rate of the reactions (a) and (b) is so extremely slow that 2 has no chance as a SH-protective reagent.
Preconcentration and speciation of chromium in waters using solid-phase extraction and atomic absorption spectrometry
2000
Abstract A method for the preconcentration and speciation of chromium was developed. After formation of an anionic compound with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (CrY − ), Cr (VI) and Cr (III) are retained on a strong anionic phase (SAX) and controlled elution with 0.5 M NaCl permits their speciation. The retention and elution conditions were optimised, and interferences due to the presence of other ions such as Mg(II), Mn(II), Sn(II), Fe(III), Ba(II), Al(III), Ca(II), chloride, iodine, bromide, fluoride, sulphate, phosphate, bicarbonate and nitrate were studied. The detection limits were 0.4 μg l −1 and 1.1 μg l −1 for Cr(III) and Cr(VI), respectively, and reproducibility was 9%. The result…
The occurrence of Dechlorane Plus and related norbornene-based flame retardants in Baltic wild salmon (Salmo salar)
2015
Twenty five Baltic wild salmon (Salmo salar) specimens were analysed for the content of Dechlorane-related compounds (DRCs). Out of the ten analysed DRCs, seven compounds were detected in the muscle tissues of salmon, including Dechlorane (Dec) 602, Dec 603, syn- and anti-stereoisomers of Dechlorane Plus (DP), Dechlorane Plus monoadduct (1,3-DPMA), hexachlorocyclopentadienyl-dibromocyclooctane (DBHCTD), and Mirex. The concentrations of Dec 604 and two DP dechlorinated compounds - decachloropentacyclooctadecadiene (Cl10DP) and undecachloropentacyclooctadecadiene (Cl11DP) - were below the limit of detection in all samples. The aggregated concentrations of DRCs (ΣDRC) were in the range of 551-…
Occurrence of polybrominated diphenyl ethers, perfluorinated compounds, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in freshwater mussels from Latvia.
2018
Abstract The occurrence of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), perfluorinated compounds (PFC), and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) in Latvian freshwater ecosystems was evaluated by using filter-feeding mussels as bioindicators. Twenty four samples of mussels were collected from freshwater bodies throughout the territory of Latvia during the summer of 2017. PBDE contamination was ubiquitous, reaching the highest total concentration of 193.2 pg g−1 w.w. BDE-209 was the most abundant compound, followed by penta-BDE components BDE-49, -100, −99, −153, −154, and −47 in decreasing order. The levels of PFCs in Latvian mussels were generally lower than those reported from other regi…
