The concept of energy available to organismal growth (i.e. scope for growth; SFG) assumes a central role in studying the behaviour of successful invaders in aquatic habitats: the higher the energy allocated to growth and reproduction, the greater the likelihood of stability/persistence in space over time of aquatic populations. When successful invaders find useful life conditions (i.e., allowing to reach maximum SFG), they compete for space and resources with indigenous species, altering the functioning of entire ecosystems. The impact of budget deficit on the economic development of Romania

This paper empirically analyzes the impact of budget deficit on the economic development of Romania. Using the OLS estimates for quarterly series for the period from 2001 to 2011, the results of the estimates prove that there is an indirect relationship between budget deficit and economic growth of Romania. According to the best statistically significant model from the three different model tested, we reached the result that one percent rise of budget deficit gives a 1.36 percent fall in real GDP. This result sustains the neoclassical hypothesis and is against the Keynesist hypothesis or the Ricardian equivalence.
THE IMPACT OF THE FUTURE COMMUNITARIAN BUDGET ON THE COMMON AGRICULTURAL POLICY

The main purpose of the Common Agricultural Policy was oriented towards production, within a short time span, due to massive subsidies from 2/3 of the communitarian budget. At this time the main objective of the Common Agricultural Policy is to reach quality, ecologic and food safety parameters, for which only 1/3 of the communitarian budget is allocated. The Common Agricultural Policy is supported by members with developed agricultural sectors, but also by states in Central and Eastern Europe, which have difficulties in this sector. The communitarian budget subsidizes the two main pillars of agriculture: "direct payments" and "rural development".

Analysis of the performance of the TES algorithm over urban areas

International audience; The temperature and emissivity separation (TES) algorithm is used to retrieve the land surface emissivity (LSE) and land surface temperature (LST) values from multispectral thermal infrared sensors. In this paper, we analyze the performance of this methodology over urban areas, which are characterized by a large number of different surface materials, a variability in the lowest layer of the atmospheric profiles, and a 3-D structure. Analysis of the energy balance closure over a FLUXNET boreal forest in Finland

Abstract. The imbalance in the surface energy budget, when using eddy-covariance techniques to measure turbulent fluxes, is still an unresolved problem. Important progresses have been reported in recent years identifying potential reasons for this lack of energy balance closure. In this paper we focus on the data collected in a FLUXNET boreal forest site in Sodankylä, Finland. Using one month half-hourly data, an average Energy Balance Ratio (EBR) of 0.72 is obtained. The inclusion of the heat storage terms in the energy budget yields an improvement of about 6% in the total closure.
