Tubular scaffold for vascular tissue engineering application
2010
A critical obstacle in tissue engineering is the inability to maintain large masses of living cells upon transfer from the in vitro culture conditions into the host in vivo. Capillaries, and the vascular system, are required to supply essential nutrients, including oxygen, remove waste products and provide a biochemical communication “highway”. Another goal in this research field is the possibility to tune the biodegradability of the scaffold. After implantation, the scaffold has to be gradually replaced by cells and extra cellular matrix and it is crucial that this replacement takes place with an appropriate dynamics. A premature degradation, in fact, could lead to a collapse of the struct…
Inferring Business Rules from Natural Language Expressions
2014
This paper proposes a mapping technique for automatically translating rules expressed in a format based on natural language, i.e. Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Business Rules (SBVR) standard, into production rules that can be executed by a computer (i.e. Rule engine). The proposed approach achieves a twofold purpose: on the one hand non IT skilled people (i.e. Domain expert) can effectively focus on business rules definition by using statements in natural language, and on the other hand the IT staff will have to manage business rules in a format ready to be executed by a rule engine. The main goal is to overcome some weaknesses in the software development process that could produce i…
A Methodology for Graphical Modeling of Business Rules
2011
This work proposes a novel methodology based on the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) standard capable of graphically modeling business rules. A set of new representation patterns allows business analysts to map processes described through BPMN into conditions and actions of business rules. Our approach exploits Domain Specific Language techniques in order to make the methodology independent from the programming language supported by the specific rule engine. Moreover, this work proposes a web graphical editor, instantiated on a specific sample scenario, where the selected rule engine is Drools, one of the most used open source products. The developed editor allows business analysts…

ROLE OF EXERCISE IN THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN SUBJECTS WITH MULTIPL…
2012

MICRORNA-21 EXPRESSION IN VESTIBULAR SCHWANNOMA: POTENTIAL EFFECT ON GROWTH AND POSSIBLE PROGNOSTIC FACTOR
2011
Background: Vestibular schwannomas are benign slow growing tumors arising from VIII cranial nerve. They are potential life threatening benign tumor because of intracranial located. The management could be surgical or conservative, but, left untreated, the tumor preserve the possibility to further growth and complication may arise. The natural history is however not predictable and prognostic factor to select patients manageable conservatively should be studied. The molecular pathways that lead to tumorigenesis and growth are not completely defined and a role could be played by microRNA. Elevated levels of microRNA-21 may contribute to tumor growth by deregulating the tumor suppressor phosph…
[OP.7D.07] 24-HOUR CENTRAL BLOOD PRESSURE IS BETTER ASSOCIATED WITH TARGET ORGAN DAMAGE OF HYPERTENSION THAN BRACHIAL BLOOD PRESSURE
2017
Objective: The VASOTENS international, multicenter, observational, non-randomized, prospective study aims at evaluating the impact of 24-hour pulse wave analysis of ambulatory blood pressure (BP) recordings on target organ damage and cardiovascular prognosis of hypertensive patients. In the present analysis of study baseline data we checked whether organ damage of hypertension i) is better associated with 24-hour central than peripheral BP and ii) is related to ambulatory arterial stiffness, estimated by pulse wave velocity (PWV) and augmentation index (AIx). Design and method: In 334 hypertensive patients (mean age 53+/-15, 52% males, 45% treated) we obtained 24-hour ABPMs, echocardiograms…
