This work is focused on procedures and methods for the production of photorealistic and geometrically correct 3D digital models. The investigation has been addressed to the wooden painted ceiling of the “Sala Magna” in the “Palazzo Steri” of Palermo. The building of the “Steri” starts in 1320 on behalf of Manfredi I Chiaramonte and continues with his heirs Manfredi II and Manfredi III, who built the second floor and provided the building with decorations. In 1601 the Holy Inquisition moved to the Steri and transformed it in a place of imprisonment and torture. The finding at the National Library of Spain of an eighteenth-century engraving of the bridge over the river Milicia, along the coast to the east of Palermo, is a chance not only to shed light on the complex history of the design and construction of one of the main Sicilian bridges, but also to attribute the real paternity rather than to the famous architect Ferdinando Fuga to the lesser-known military engineer, serving the Austrian Crown, Michelangelo Blasco, whose long and successful career is reconstructed: from Sicily, through Milan, Wien and Lisbon, to the uncharted territory of Brazil.

E' a partire dalla metà del XVI secolo, con l'espansione verso sud voluta dal viceré Juan de Vega e la costruzione della classicista porta dei Greci, che prese avvio il processo di definizione in chiave aulica del fronte a mare della città di Palermo. Solo dalla fine del secolo successivo, però, con la sempre maggiore produzione di raffigurazioni e vedute, si assistette al consolidarsi di punti di vista che privilegiavano l'immagine della città presa dal mare da parte di pittori e incisori.
