Abstract Linear Genetic Programming (LGP) represents programs as sequences of instructions and has a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) dataflow. The results of instructions are stored in registers that can be used as arguments by other instructions. Instructions that are disconnected from the main part of the program are called noneffective instructions, or structural introns. They also appear in other DAG-based GP approaches like Cartesian Genetic Programming (CGP). Experimental validation for spectrum cartography using adaptive multi-kernels

This paper validates the functionality of an algorithm for spectrum cartography, generating a radio environment map (REM) using adaptive radial basis functions (RBF) based on a limited number of measurements. The power at all locations is estimated as a linear combination of different RBFs without assuming any prior information about either power spectral densities (PSD) of the transmitters or their locations. The RBFs are represented as centroids at optimized locations, using machine learning to jointly optimize their positions, weights and Gaussian decaying parameters. Optimization is performed using expectation maximization with a least squares loss function and a quadratic regularizer. …

Dynamic spectrum access with Cognitive Radio (CR) network is a promising approach to increase the efficiency of spectrum usage. To allow the optimization of resource allocation and transmission adaptation techniques, each CR terminal needs to acquire awareness of the state of the time-frequency-location varying radio spectrum. Renda e la Dott.ssa Chirco in cui è stata realizzata una dimostrazione pratica di come si possano eseguire le indagini di materiale cartaceo con strumentazione portatile.
