What «making» history of philosophy means: Deleuze and the question of method

2012

Proteoglycan synthesis by cultured human chondrocytes.

1994

Iliac crest biopsies are important in the detection of human skeletal dysplasias. Therefore, culture of these cells may serve as a valuable method for studying proteoglycan metabolism in chondrocytes of individuals with skeletal abnormalities. Morphological and biochemical studies were performed on human iliac crest chondrocytes grown in monolayer and in agarose gels. Two proteoglycan populations of different hydrodynamic size and glycosaminoglycan composition were synthesized by cells grown in monolayer. Chondrocytes cultured in an agarose gel for 2 weeks synthesized proteoglycans identical to those of the native tissue with respect to hydrodynamic size and glycosaminoglycan chain length. …

Distribution patterns of neoglycoprotein-binding sites (endogenous lectins) and lectin-reactive glycoconjugates during cartilage and bone formation i…

1995

The distribution of endogenous lectins, visualized by labelled neoglycoproteins, and of defined oligosaccharide structures, reactive with plant lectins, during fetal development of the fingers was analyzed in sections of human 3- to 8-month-old fetal specimens. Chondrogenesis as well as ossification were correlated with characteristic modulations in the expression of both glycoligand-binding molecules and characteristic carbohydrate structures. Occurrence of xylose-specific receptors was judged to be an early sign of cartilage development. Similarly, α-mannosyl residues that had been attached to labelled carrier proteins were strongly bound by the extracellular matrix already during early s…

Isolation and characterization of Oct-4+/HLA-G+ mesenchymal stem cells from human umbilical cord matrix: differentiation potential and detection of n…

2008

The presence of multipotent cells in several adult and embryo-related tissues opened new paths for their use in regenerative medicine. Extraembryonic tissues such as umbilical cord are considered a promising source of stem cells, potentially useful in therapy. The characterization of cells from the umbilical cord matrix (Wharton''s Jelly) and amniotic membrane revealed the presence of a population of mesenchymal-like cells, sharing a set of core-markers expressed by "mesenchymal stem cells". Several reports enlightened the differentiation capabilities of these cells, even if at times the lack of an extensive characterization of surface markers and immune co-stimulators expression revealed h…

Aportaciones al cálculo de la latitud en la náutica española de principios del siglo XVII contenidas en el manuscrito de Diego Ramírez de Arellano &l…

2013

In 1620, was named chief pilot of the Casa de Contratación de Sevilla Diego Ramírez de Arellano, author of a manuscript entitled Reconocimiento de los estrechos de Magallanes y San Vicente, con algunas cosas curiosas de navegación. He had participated in the reconnaissance mission referred by the title of the manuscript, and in that book developed same methods and tools for a nautical understood scientifically, and even used a methodology close to modern science, as in refuting the theory about Figueiredo of the linear relationship between longitude and magnetic variation of the needle navigation. This article is based on some conclusions that can get an analysis of the manuscript. It focus…

Fuentes agrarias pre catastrales valencianas. Su utilidad geográfica

1998

Valencia agrarian precatastral sources. Its geographical utility. The socalled Llibres de Values de la Peyta and Cap-patrons are the oldest agrarian census in Valencia. As a geographic source, they give information about the properties, their division into plots, and about the types of lands and crops. They also make possible an approximate cartographic representation of all this.

Spatial history: railways, uneven development and population change in France and Great Britain, 1850-1914

2011

International audience; A comparative spatial history combining historical narrative, geographical thinking, and spatial analysis of historical data offers new perspectives on railway expansion and its effects in France and Great Britain during the long nineteenth century. Accessible rail transport in the rural regions of both countries opened new economic opportunities in agriculture, extractive industries, and service trades, helping to revitalize rural communities and decrease their rates of out-migration. In France, long-standing economic disparities between the developed north and the less-productive south gradually reduced. These conclusions are based, in part, on the use of historica…

Entités fonctionnelles, entités spatiales et dynamique urbaine dans la longue durée

2004

Functional Features, spatial Features and the urban Dynamic across a long Lapse of Time. Heterogeneous data from different sources are to be formalised as functional and spatial features in order to study the spatial evolution of preindustrial cities in the « longue durée ». The aim is to establish a distinction between historically relevant functional features and geographically relevant spatial features in order to produce information better adjusted to study spatial dynamics. The elements of a methodology are brought up.

The inclusion of love letters in Curial e Güelfa, as well as in the Catalan chivalresque novel, is a literary element whose function is not only confined to…
