Los canónigos de la catedral de Valencia (1375-1520). Aproximación a su prosopografía

2005

Monte Carlo Methods for the Sampling of Free Energy Landscapes

2019

In this chapter, we return to classical statistical mechanics, wherein the canonical ensemble averages of an observable \(A(\overrightarrow{x})\), where \(\overrightarrow{x} \) stands symbolically for the “microstate” coordinate in the configurational part of the phase space of the system, are given by (cf. Sect. 2.1.1)

From determination of the fugacity coefficients to estimation of hydrogen storage capacity: A convenient theoretical method

2015

Abstract The equation of state (EOS) from virial expansion (VE) is used in this work to pave the way for determining the fugacity coefficients of the hydrogen fluid at arbitrary temperature and pressure. The fugacity coefficients from our VE method have more physical meanings than the empirical values. In this way, the hydrogen storage capacity of a novel material model can be estimated by using few density functional theory (DFT) calculations with the aid of a continuum model. The efficient continuum model can provide a more accurate estimation of the hydrogen storage capacity than the pure DFT calculations. Furthermore, the expensive grand canonical ensemble (μNT) simulations combining wi…

Application of the new multimetric MMI_PL index for biological water quality assessment in reference and human-impacted streams (Poland, the Slovak R…

2014

Abstract A new multimetric MMI_PL index, which is based on the macroinvertebrate composition and combines six single key metrics, has already been implemented in Poland according to the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive. The objectives of our survey were to assess the biological water quality using the new multimetric MMI_PL index in both reference and human-impacted streams, to analyze whether the values of the new multimetric index properly reflect the ecological status of the water in upland and mountain streams as well as to determine which environmental factors influence the distribution of benthic macroinvertebrates and the values of the metrics. The study was carried o…

The nearly Gorenstein property for numerical duplications and semitrivial extensions

2022

In this thesis we present and study the ideal duplication, a new construction within the class of the relative ideals of a numerical semigroup $S$, that, under specific assumptions, produces a relative ideal of the numerical duplication $SJoin^b E$, for some ideal $E$ of $S$. We prove that every relative ideal of the numerical duplication can be uniquely written as the ideal duplication of two relative ideals of $S$; this allows us to better understand how the basic operations of the class of the relative ideals of $SJoin^b E$ work. In particular, we characterize the ideals $E$ such that $SJoin^b E$ is nearly Gorenstein. With the aim to generalize this construction to commutative rings with…

Inclusive Design for Alzheimer’s Disease: Low-cost Treatments, Design and ICT

2019

Inability to acquire new memories, difficulty to remember recent events and to recognize objects, places and people, visual-spatial disorientation, these are some of the disorders with which who is affected by neurological diseases must learn to live with. In a continuously evolving society, where the decreasing birth rate and the drops in mortality are consistent, the job of Architecture is precisely to interpret the requirements and needs of people who have lost the canonical relationship with the world and give them the possibility to recover it or maintain it through communication channels that use their remaining ability to understand. The indoors and outdoors acquire a “prosthesis fun…

Settore ICAR/12 - Tecnologia Dell'Architettura

Multi-subject fMRI analysis via combined independent component analysis and shift-invariant canonical polyadic decomposition

2014

Canonical polyadic decomposition (CPD) may face a local optimal problem when analyzing multi-subject fMRI data with inter-subject variability. Beckmann and Smith proposed a tensor PICA approach that incorporated an independence constraint to the spatial modality by combining CPD with ICA, and alleviated the problem of inter-subject spatial map (SM) variability. This study extends tensor PICA to incorporate additional inter-subject time course (TC) variability and to connect CPD and ICA in a new way. Assuming multiple subjects share common TCs but with different time delays, we accommodate subject-dependent TC delays into the CP model based on the idea of shift-invariant CP (SCP). We use ICA …
