Millaisista lähtökohdista tulevat koulumenestyjät ja miten he sijoittuvat työelämään? Mikä merkitys hyvällä koulumenestyksellä on huippuoppilaiden elämässä ollut? Tämän väitöskirjatutkimuksen tarkoituksena on etsiä vastauksia edellä mainittuihin kysymyksiin. Tutkimuksessa seurataan laudaturylioppilaiden urapolkuja tilastojen ja elämäkertojen avulla. Tutkimuksen ensimmäisessä osiossa kerrotaan, millaisille koulutus- ja työurille laudaturin yleisarvosanan kirjoittaneet ylioppilaat ovat suuntautuneet lukion jälkeen. From the field to the academic sphere how teachers professional identities and roles have changed in post-war Finland This study explores teacher autobiographies. The span of the writings extends mainly from the Second World War to the new millennium. The autobiographers are mostly elementary and secondary school teachers in Finland, although there are a few who have worked in vocational schools, polytechnic institutes or one of the various adult education centres. AbstractThis article reports the findings from a phenomenographic investigation into career experts’ conceptions of innovation in career development. The results show that conceptions of innovation in career development varied from (1) initiating service, (2) developing demographic-based programmes, (3) professionalising the sector to (4) exploiting cross-sectoral synergies. The findings give us a more profound understanding of critical aspects that may have an important role in improving innovation in career development.

Cleaning is often the survival employment that migrants can get in their new home country. Ideally, the workplace can be a site for integration and language learning. This article explores how two migrants working as cleaners in Finland narrate their work-related Finnish language learning trajectories. The research is designed by applying nexus analysis (Scollon & Scollon, 2004), which focuses on social action in the intersection of interaction order, participants’ life experiences, and discourses in place.
