Implantable cardioverter‐defibrillator (ICD) implantation is not indicated in patients with potentially transient or reversible causes of sudden cardiac death (SCD). Wearable cardioverter‐defibrillator (WCD) is increasingly used for SCD prevention in patients who are temporary at high risk of ventricular arrhythmia. CONTEXT: Orbital pseudotumor (OP) is a benign inflammatory process of the orbit with a large polymorphous lymphoid infiltrate, associated with fibrosis in variable amounts, localized or diffuse. Graves’ ophthalmopathy (GO) is the most common cause of proptosis, unilateral or bilateral. CASE REPORT: We report a patient with unilateral proptosis who was initially treated with antithyroid drugs for an euthyroid Graves disease, but the extension of the investigation infirmed this. The MRI findings (inflammation of fat, muscle and the left lacrimal gland) in conjunction with the biopsy infirmed the initial diagnostic and confirmed the OP. Subglottic stenosis imitating the carina – a case report of airway mimicry

Summary We present a case of awake tracheal intubation with flexible bronchoscopy which resulted in incorrect tracheal tube placement. The presence of a stenotic subglottic lesion with an appearance similar to the carina led to the tube being positioned with only the tip within the trachea whilst the cuff was located between the vocal cords. A capnography trace was identified before induction of anaesthesia; however, visual confirmation of the carina was undertaken in a rushed manner due to the patient becoming agitated. Background: Cavernous malformations (CMs) of the optic chiasm are rare lesions often presenting with acute chiasmal syndrome or a progressive visual loss. The case of a 48-year-old female with an intrachiasmatic CM is presented. Case Description: The patient presented with an insidious history of progressive visual loss. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a CM in the suprasellar region. The patient was operated via a right pterional approach with a complete lesion removal. This case report demonstrates the utility and safety of ultrasound transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block in a paediatric patient suffering from Menkes disease. Anaesthetists, and particularly paediatric and neonatal anaesthetists, have to make a careful assessment of these patients, who are subjected to frequent surgeries, despite their tender years.
